I don't download music.or films, don't watch you tube or facebook, basically use it for calls and texts, and to check my bank, so can't see why the battery is going so quickly0

You can sell it buy a phone you like with excellent battery life . Continue to pay the contract and put sim in new phone .0

Before I buy a phone I check the battery spec. This Huawei Y6 has a 3000 mAh battery which is at the at the lower end.
There are a lot of phones with 4000mAh or the Mototola Power with 5000 mAh0 -

Go into settings>battery>battery useage
So you can see exactly is using battery.
So for my Mate 20 pro. Im currently at 42% battery for the screen.
software wise,Facebook is the power hungry one at 19%.
you can also look at battery settings, power schemes etc.0 -
Thanks, yes i did think about doing that, but not sure if my sim contract is connected to the phone or will it still work in my old samsung, might have to ring o2
Will whoever buys it be able to register it though? don't want any comeback0 -

Your sim will work in any o2 or unlocked phone and any o2 sim (any sim if its unlocked) will work in your Huawei.====0 -
You definitely need to check what's eating the battery - closing apps might not do it as many will restart automatically. It has a smallish battery and a power hungry screen and fairly decent cpu for the price.
You could sell it or if keeping get a better charger (it comes with a 1A model but phone supports 2A which will speed up charging) and depending how you use it maybe a powerbank to charge it during the day when not in use if away from a power source.0 -

I doubt that would be the whole issue, I’m currently using a P Smart 2019 with a 3320 mAh battery which easily lasts the day, even with an hour or 2 of iPlayer or SkyGo during the day.====0 -
The battery capacity is not relevant as the OP states the phone is not being used, mostly “idling” waiting for a call or text.
FWIW, my iPhone SE only has a 1624 mAh battery, but even at 3 years old the battery will last 24 hours if lightly used.0 -
