Ofcom's code of practice.
Regulator Ofcom and the networks agreed a code of practice on the sales and marketing of mobile phones contracts this year. It states that the following terms are ‘unreasonable’ and you should not agree to them:- A requirement that customers submit original statements. Copies should be acceptable proof
- A charge for processing a claim
- A requirement that claims are submitted in an unreasonably short period (anything less than 60 days, for example)
- Terms stating that a cashback payment will not be made if the customer has an outstanding balance on their account
