In my freezer is a lambs liver (I think...well it probably is) its been in there a while from when we got half a lamb. But its still in there because I dont really know what to do with it. We're getting low on supplies so its time to use it.
Once Ive defrosted it, it will have to be used quickly...is there anything slow-cooker-y I can do with it, to then re-freeze? How do you make liver and bacon? Can I use it in soup?
Thanks''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0 -

Pigpen gave me her recipe for liver, We call it 'Liver a la Piggers' in our house now!
we chop it up, chop up sausages, fry that all off, fry some onion, mix it all together, with some gravy. Serve in yorkshire puddings, or with mash. Any leftovers in a pie.

Got tons of lambs liver in the freezer, OH needs it for his anaemia. I was wondering if there is any way of cooking a load in the pressure cooker and then freezing it. Would that make it tough ? I always just roll it in flour then fry for a few minutes. I know you can get liver casserole but not sure how we would like that - doesnt sound very great
Happy to be proved wrong though !0 -
Mardatha, I've not had a pressure cooker for years, but I have been recently cooking lambs liver in a slow cooker and freezing portions for meals. I don't see why you couldn't freeze liver done in the pressure cooker.
Having done a little research I started to do liver in the slow cooker by slicing up the liver and coating it in seasoned flour. Using lamb stock cubes to make stock. Added some finely chopped onions and some herbs. I then added a splash of milk as someone suggested this makes the liver softer when cooked this way. Other people suggested soaking the liver in milk for half an hour prior to cooking. I cook it on low all day it makes a lovely gravy. HTH.Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -

I cook a liver and bacon casserole with liver floured and lightly fried then add to a casserole dish with onions, carrots, bacon and an Oxo cube and cook on a low gas - with creamy mashed potatoes it's lovely:D0
