Snags, where did you get the car MOT done? Is it worth taking it somewhere else, where they won't be looking for the work to be done? Maybe the alternative to the type of place its been to today, before you condemn it?

I've found that happen before with my little car, large UK tyre & exhaust co have told me it needs work doing + a new exhaust twice now - and little local garage man has said both times that they are talking out of an orifice, and it STILL doesn't need one at 10yrs old!

I know what you mean but this garage have always been okay with us and have never tried to rip us off - we've tried other garages but have always gone back to this one because they seem trustable. In fact the lady that rang me did say it wasn't really worth doing because of the age/value of the car and the cost, so they didn't seem to be trying to get me to pay out more than necessary.

It IS a bit of an old rustbucket to be fair :rotfl: although I will still be a little bit sad to see it go because it's the first car me and Stu bought together, we brought our first baby home from hospital in it etc........awwwwww.........:o

I have to pay £40 for the priviledge of cancelling my insurance though......hrumphhhh......but it will save me loads each month. Ooooh, and I have £60 saved towards my car tax, which I can pay off the credit card now!

Now that is pants! Still you'll get it back next time you start a policy what with cash back etc.

Hi Ellidee, yes, bit better thanks - and yes, if I need the car for the day I can always drop Stu off at work first (although he starts at 6am, so it will be a last resort :rotfl:).

Might be an idea to tell them you intend to get a new car, and ask if they can suspend the policy it until you get it, and at least that way you will give the cashback time to go thru. then you can cancel it!

Or maybe you will end up getting another car after xmas anyway....

Snaggs, that's such a shame about your car. fingers crossed the insurance will be validated through quidco before they realise what they've done!

It's ok for kids to do that. It's when they hit 16 that you have to worry if that happens! *laugh*
