Hi there, I was surfing yesterday and found this:

    http://www.vintagelifestyle.co.uk/cgi-bin/vl_mkorderpage.pl?&cc_section=NA&cc_submit=continue

Decorative lanterns (aka pretty jam jars with a nitelight in!)

If it doesn't work PM me and I'll send you the link. Lord knows what these sold for - quite a bit, I imagine - but you can make them for pence and they are quite sweet. I'm having a go - sainbury have some christmassy scented candles. Jam jars - free if you save them (I've got stacks :o ). A bit of glue, fabric, ribbon and you are away.

    HTH

Link not working, if you use the first part you should find the site then I think it was under "recently sold items" or something. Like I say PM me if you want.

Hi I wouldn't go with knitting as you could use your time more productively. I buy cheap cups/dishes from Ikea. Then buy Pebeo Porcelaine 150 paint very small pots. Using a fine paintbrush paint very simple designs like snowflakes on blue cups. I do really simple holly leaves and add a few red berries finish with a few gold dots around. Dry for 24 hours then bake 35 min at 150 they are then dishwasher proof. You could buy some cheap cups and make up a hot chocolate treat with marshmallows etc. Wrap in cellophane and fasten with shiny ribbon used for presies.

To personalise your wares (and get you orders) attach a small swing tag with your details on it..you can find free ones to print our online just add your details with a print programme..attach with curly ribbon(on a roll cheapo one from tesco/asda) looks very posh but really cheap ;)

What about tablet? Not really christmassy, but it is easy and reasonably quick and should generate some 'pocket money sales' i.e. the kids mentioned above with 50p to spend...

I'll come back when I think of some other ideas.

Tooties the cake bag toppers are pieces of card printed with 'Bake sale' ,'Tooties Carrot Cake' etc on them.Folded over the top (open) end of the cello bag then stapled into place for a nice finish :D I'll see if I can find any pics of them online you can also visit www.grandmageorge.com she has some wonderful printables there which are perfect!!
    I'll find a pic of a swing tag too..:D

You can usually buy dried lavender in any craft-type shop but it's usually a bit on the pricey side.

The best way (for future reference) is to approach someone you know who grows lavender in their garden and ask them if they use the dried lavender flowers from the plants and if not can you have some for charity fund-raising purposes.

  • Hi,

Last year I made some christmasy shapes from Salt dough punched a hole in top and baked. Then when they were done I threaded a red and white gingham ribbon through it tied it in a knot and ta-da! Christmas decorations. Not sure how much you would charge but if it were me I would be sure to put them in a wee bag and label them DO NOT EAT ME!
