Calling all OS Crafters

Morning folks,
I really need your help on this one!!! Next Monday evening i have agreed against my wisdom to have a table at the craft/art fair at the grand cost of a £5.00.

Now my next problem is i have nothing to sell on said table so i have arranged the rest of the week off college and this is where you lot come in.........
I thought i could spend the rest of the week knitting and sewing some quality items to sell so i need your help thinking of items and helping with pricing etc.

So far my brain has come up with knitted football stockings (from the xmas jane geenhoff book) thought i could do them in our local teams colours hearts and hibs. Pink fluffy knitted stockings from same book and i have a santa from the same book almost finished.

So how much to charge for said goods...............

Next on my plan is sewed draft excluders for doors and i thought of making some wheat/rice bag things again anyone know how to make them and if so how much to charge for them.

Lastly i thought i could get some xmas coloured felt and make stockings from the felt anyone got an idea for a template etc.

Failing that i am also going to make half a dozen of D&DD's carrot cakes which should go down well but i have no idea how much to charge for them.

Anyone help and have further suggestions for a fairly quick knitter but rather novice sewer (i do have a sewing machine). I look forward to all your ideas, advice and help.

thank you all in advance
regards
a stressed at the thought of doing all this tooties;)

What about making some strong re usable shoppers? Green, simple to sew & you can use up any fabric you have left over, old sheets, curtains or duvets or go to a charity shop for some 'preloved' items.

You could sew or knit some soft toys for people to buy as Christmas presents? Or you could even make some Christmas decorations for the tree. There are loads of ideas on crafty websites for this type of thing.

You could buy some Christmas fabric & make some table runners & matching napkins.

mulled wine making sachets in cheesecloth? easy to make a square sachet?

charge at least £2.25 for each carrot cake. I love them and I'd pay that no problem! (they are always the first to go at cake fairs!)

    good luck!

Do you have a local (expensive!) shop selling loads of Christmas stuff? I went for a nosy around ours and they had a lot of (expensive!) stuff you could make yourself. The one that springs to mind was knitted mini stockings to go on the Christmas tree - they looked gorgeous!

Might be worth a look if you have anything like that close by - but no buying anything! :money: :rotfl:

On the knitting thread there are several links to knitted dishcloth patterns. Dishcloth cotton is so cheap - around 70p a ball and they would be quick to knit up. One poster on the thread, (sorry, can't remember the name), said they can be knitted double-length, folded in half, sewn up on two sides, a loop added, and used as pot-holders. I'm sure they would sell well.

I think you're very brave to have taken on such a challenge - please let us know how you get on. Good luck!

I agree with Mioliere....knitted dishcloths, I am knitting the one from the link on the dishcloth thread.....I am using up some old cotton yarn...I bought 2 hanks years ago and they have sat in my knitting bag ever since.

Have a look at the stuff she is selling in her shop...off to get the link..she charges quite a bit and the stuff looks effective but simple to make.

I just googled 'christmas crafts' and came up with a few sites including this one:
    http://crafts.kaboose.com/holidays/christmas/our-featured-christmas-crafts.html

This particular item from that site looks interesting and easy to make:

I used to do all these kinds of things for Christmas Fayre stalls when my kids were younger and I had a more 'daytime' on my hands - funny how we get out of the habit as the kids get older.

Good luck and enjoy your stall. Ollie

    Hi Tooties :D
I do craft fairs when I have time and often have a stash of sweetie bits for the kids to buy (they often wander round with 50p or so...;) and often bring their parents back with them) Snowman seeds (mint imperials),Reindeer food (porridge oats mixed with glitter in a bag),choccie bars (cheap kitkat lookie likies from asda*take a break??* unwrapped and wrapped with printed 'you've been a good boy/girl for Santa' wrappers...Re cakes do a google for cake bag toppers I slice cakes put into cello bags(cheap on ebay..) and top with these cards as it makes a bigger profit *can you hear me squeak when I walk I'm so tight lol*(I charge 50p a bag one cake makes up about 8/9 bags.
To personalise your wares (and get you orders) attach a small swing tag with your details on it..you can find free ones to print our online just add your details with a print programme..attach with curly ribbon(on a roll cheapo one from tesco/asda) looks very posh but really cheap ;)
