Sounds like you are still making good progress. Food prices are rising - and where the money is being spent is also shifting. I am 'saving' £40 on school dinners. Lots of  money saved on eating out and takeaways - but so far my food bill has shot through the roof. I have plenty in though. With DS now home too - our food consumption has increased. It's really hard to judge how much we need. I have one food delivery booked next week but don't know how we will fare after that.

Thanks for stopping in SH x

Not much movement here so far this week, as we haven't left the house. OH is working from home, so is still pulling an income which puts our mind at ease. I have just cashed out a £5 M&S voucher from a survey site today which has been saved for now, but they always come in handy somewhere along the line.

I've done a couple of surveys that landed in my inbox and have put £2.40 credit in my survey site account. Did a couple of Yougov surveys yesterday too, slowly heading towards the £35 mark, but not expecting to be able to cash out until the end of the year.

Our increased food/household consumables budget has almost gone, bar £50, so we'll top that up with some of OH unused petrol budget if needs be. At the moment, we'll just work our way through what we have and see where we go from there. I bet that just as we get the hang of what we need, it will all change again! Que sera, sera ...

  • Good morning!

I hope everyone is at least enjoying the decent weather, even if the outlook is bleak elsewhere in life (you've gotta look for the good bits  :)) Sending hugs to anyone who needs them xx

I have had £21.95 cashback confirmed from Quidco yesterday and have requested to withdraw it - this will go towards PB's - I just need to top it up by £3.05 before I can make the purchase, but that is currently being worked on.

I have £10 in the petrol budget and £5 left in the food budget. We probably need milk and bread, but that seems to be about it at the moment. I'm going to try to eek out what we have to avoid the shops.

Sounds like a plan. We're running short on milk too will try and wait until at least Tuesday. £co seems to be paying quicker than normal at the moment. It all helps.

A quick update from me today. I hope everyone is safe and is doing okay x

We did an interim budget review for this month and at the moment, we are looking to be about £100ish overbudget for food spends. So we have adjusted next months budget to reflect this. We may have over estimated this month given that we have both DD's birthdays that have involved some additional treats/birthday cakes being bought but we'll see how we get on with the revised budget next month.

£100 underspend on OH petrol budget due to him WFH has been swept into savings bringing us to just over £9.5k. We have noted a few bits that will need to be done on the house (and we aren't skilled at to do ourselves), so we are also sticking extra bits in for these to be done once lockdown is over. Essential maintenance, but also means we can use local trades people and pop some money their way too.

We've had letters to confirm that both DD's savings accounts will be dropping to 0.50%, and ours is dropping to 0.01% as of 17/06/20. I've had a quick look at what's out there for DD's and there doesn't seem to be much difference between accounts at the moment to warrant moving them, but I'll keep an eye on the market as the economy starts to pick up again, we won't move ours or lock it away, despite the rate change, as we need it to be instant access as it's our emergency fund.

I've topped up the Quidco money and used it to buy £25 PB's as part of my 2020 goals and will review again at the end of the month as to whether I can add any more.

A quick update here - Dual Fuel fix was due to end 31/05, so I have spent sometime today reviewing the offers and agreeing another fix  ;)

No money spent today, we're eating and entertaining ourselves with what we have x

We did thanks, it was about £7 p/m less than current DD, not loads as we try to keep an eye on this regularly (annually usually), but any saving is positive  :)
