  • Day 4 and I’ve paid £100 off the credit card :j
My dd is with her dad today so trying to enjoy a relaxing day. It’s tempting to go shopping to distract myself like I usually do but I haven’t! I find time away from dd really difficult so I tend to go clothes shopping etc. Because that’s something that’s difficult with a 3 year old! I’ve taken on an overtime shift this afternoon so pleased I’ve done that instead!

I’ve got plenty of yummy food left over from last nights dinner so today should be a no spend day!
It was great catching up with my friend last night and I enjoyed dinner. My new recipe was a success  and the g + t was perfect lol!
  • Extra overtime completed, no spend day and listed 16 items on eBay! Its all small items of kids clothing but maybe it might make a few quid. So pretty happy with progress on day 4 haha!

Hey Ladybug, What about visiting the storage unit when you are away from your little bug and maybe seeing if you have anything else there you can sell on facebook or eBay, or just declutter? If you can reduce the size of your storage area you can reduce the costs?

    Just a thought.

  • Thank you footyfandan! Accountability is key I think! :rotfl: that’s why this diary is so helpful!

Thanks for the advice Katsu, the chances of reducing the actually storage space is zero, but I definitely think having a look for some more bits to sell is a good plan!

I’ve earnt £90 in overtime this week so really happy with that! I also got my new contract through the post for my upped hours beginning in September. :j

    Bring on day 5!
  • Day 5 - The sun is out! Yipppeee! I love the sunshine

My daughter is back and we are hanging out in the garden with the water tray - it’s a rather pitiful plastic mess actually but she seems happy enough ‘making perfume’ with it. She mixes different flower petals with the water and stirs it all up in a bowl. This just reminds me what life is all about for her. Nothing expensive needed just the outdoors and time to explore and have fun.

I’ve spent £1.89 on some groceries but other than that I’ve having opened my purse ;) we are eating from what’s in the fridge and freezer tonight and hopefully a couple more days too!

I’ve been really conscious of how much driving I do, I always seem to be popping here or there. Being more aware means I’ve still got plenty of petrol to last me at least to the middle of the week.

I am bidding on a few clothes for my dd for summer. She seems to have had a growth spurt recently and is lacking in clothes for the right season. I love buying her clothes but I’m pleased that I’m buying bits that are second hand from Facebook selling pages and eBay rather than new like I would usually. It’s small steps, I’m sure others would say she could live with less clothes but I’m making small changes!

I’ve made another £100 payment to the credit card thanks to my overtime this week. :T

  • Hi beanielou,

Day 6 - I saw your message and have transferred exactly £150.42 to my credit card. This bring the outstanding balance to a very neat £3000! I’m very excited but it’s really important to stick to my budget otherwise I’ll end up in the overdraft!

I’ve had a good day at work today, spent £18.96 on groceries after work. That’s it for spending which I know isn’t too bad, but I’m a little disappointed in myself as I could have done without buying those groceries but just wanted them rather than needing them.

Bring on day 7, the last of my first week
  • :oDay 7 - the last day of my first week! I am shattered. Work was long!!!

I spent £3.45 on a sandwich and a packet of crisps for lunch. Not very money saving I know! :o.

Other than that nothing to report!

Need to see the return of the motivation I had at the beginning of the week :o
  • Don't be so hard on yourself, you've had an awesome first week, well done!!! x
