Doesn't that say something about the banks?
Certainly not ME!
It just says that you're making a complaint, rather than a claim, that's all.
A claim would be if you had lost your job or become ill and wanted to claim for help with the repayments.
If they muddle everything up into 'claims', it would become very confusing.0 -

So why did you use the complaint form when you could have used the PPI enquiry form to simply ask if you had PPI without making a complaint?

I appreciate that stereotypes exist for anyone that ever sold a financial product, but I also know of firms that NEVER sold PPI who still receive claims and complaints with the usual reasons why people were mis-sold something they never actually bought.
If anyone genuinely feels that they were mis-sold and paid for any product that was not suitable for them, then of course they should make a complaint. My criticism is only of the mob mentality.
When i took out my mortgage the branch manager tried to sell me something where i only paid the interest and took out a low cost indemnity insurance which would pay off my mortgage when it matured and give me a significant lump sum too. I'd heard of this type of mortgage and it was clearly very popular. Huge lump sums, in addition to the mortgage, were being quoted.
When i declined, he kept repeating that i was doing it against his expert advice. He put that in writing - three time! He even insisted i signed a "waiver" so that i couldn't sue him for not stopping me from taking out a repayment mortgage instead of an endowment.
Am i right in saying that these endowment mortgages also left a nasty taste in bankers mouths?
I mention this because bankers also would seem fall fowl of "mob mentality" too.
You could also give a very good argument that with this, PPI, card protection, etc, you would think they should have been far more wary when it came to buying sub-primes.Switzerland has Dignitasthe UK has DCA's, Bankers and Lawyers.0 -

Keeps the bank (and this forum) busy for a while though
( I'm beginning to expect the conclusion to this thread will be full records from 33 years ago found to be readily available.
PPI to be, of course, applied and a huge redress amount awarded.
I'll still be very surprised, but there you go...)
