BW Legal

Hi guys. I have been through the newbie threads but just wanted clarity. I have been ignoring such parking fines for years. This is the first time I have been vehemently chased by a legal company. I picked up one of the calls not knowing it was them. I stupidly told them I went with the owner to get a permit to display but we couldn't get access to his rented flat (which was true). Then i back tracked and told them it was so long ago (October) that I don't even remember if that was the same time as I never got a ticket.
The lady said it was on ANPR. I asked her to send me proof which they did.

I now have a letter of claim letter. Now that I have spoken to them will this work against me?
My wife is getting worried about these CCJ letters.

Thanks in advance. I have a copy of the letters but sure you have seen them all before.

So this letter of claim is giving you 30 days to respond ????

No such thing as a CCJ letter from a dodgy legal. Only a judge could inact a CCJ

No doubt BWLegal are trying to scam you with a further fake £60 which you don't owe

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so complain to your MP.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

Thanks all. Mrs got worried because it said "if payment or a response is not received by 13th July we are instructed to issue a County Court Claim without further reference to you."
Just worried because I spoke to them they actually do something with this as I heard of them winning cases of late

    Yes that will happen.

Did you? Not here. We win 99% of defended cases here.

    Hi guys,

So it seems now I have massively made an error here. I read the newbie link and asked and received the SAR but I missed the appeal time. I mistakenly thought I should ignore until the court letter as I have ignored the letters in the past. Now I have the court letter without any kind of appeal it seems I am dead in the water and I should just pay the £175. Is that correct?
Im gutted because their signs are covered by bushes and it could have been straightforward.

Can you please expand on that?

Have you received a County Court Claim Form?

If so, what is the Issue Date on it, and did it come from the County Court Business Centre in Northampton, or from somewhere else?

    Who is the Claimant?

    Not dead yet!

Now read up on this in the newbies FAQ thread, post #2.

That post covers how to defend a Court claim with walkthroughs showing what to do and when

First job is the AOS which will buy you an extra 14 days to get the defence in

    All explained in that post.

No. Where on earth did you imagine that from?

Even if you read just ten or so cases where people have a court claim right now this week on here, I bet almost half of them are ignorers. Very common.

Please read other court threads and tell us the date of that claim form N1, if that's what you received, and read the NEWBIES thread post #2 in depth this weekend and do the AOS on MCOL as shown.

No waiting expecting the court to reply to you once the AOS is done! Eeek, a defence will be needed too and you really need to read the NEWBIES thread carefully.
