Amazon Lost my package and now refusing to refund!

@OP ... do you have "bin" (in your account) as a designated safe place for parcels to be left? (It can be a default setting).
Did YOU specify a signature was needed, or did they advise it?
And regarding small value items not going missing - untrue. We ordered something on Sunday (£17.96) that was supposedly delivered yesterday (according to the tracking) - but it wasn't. It wasn't "handed to resident" (per the tracking, nor was it left with a neighbour or left in the safe place (in/near the bins).
Never designated a safe place, and they said a signature would be required as wel.0 -
No point going to the Police, nothing has been stolen, the item has not been delivered to your address, its been put in the bin.
I think your going to have to go to your credit card company. Point this out to Amazon, the contract states delivery to you, not a bin.
Yes it seems my credit card is my only option now. Amazon don't have any channel to escalate issues like this.
I would have to wait up to 15 working day before opening a case with my CC, then probably another 2 weeks before it's resolved.
:mad:0 -
Seems to me like Amazon are happy that the item was delivered. So they are hardly going to refund you or replace the item just because you are telling them it was left in your bin, and you didn't attempt to retrieve the parcel until the following day, after your bin got emptied.
I never asked for the item to be left unattended. I requested a signature for the item.
They should have taken the item back if nobody was home. This is what most couriers do when a signature is required.
How can they prove proof it was even left in the bin? amazon couriers are very well know to take stuff for themselves.0 -
I have to wonder why anyone would order an £1800 item then not be in for delivery. Amazon probably have more delivery options than any other retailer, you choose your delivery day at the point of ordering, you can choose any address so it could go to a work address or relative if you can't be at home, most of the country gets weekend delivery, they deliver to every post office in the U.K., most areas have a collection point in a local shop, amazon lockers all over the country but you choose home delivery then go out on the day of delivery instead of using one of the many other far more sensible options.
Because the day they tell you it is being delivered is not necessarily the day it comes. I phoned up to tell them to rearrange as I was not available on the day in question. They agreed to a specific date then delivered it a day early with no updates and the tracking telling me it was still coming on the day agreed.
And I'm fed up of their drivers recording "handed to householder" when they've dumped it in the porch and scarpered while I was at work and the house was empty. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Yes amazon have some bad delivery drivers.
Such an item required a signiture as you say. Have you not asked for it and sent proof it is not yours?
You cerdit card will help but do accept you will be banned from amazon for life (and anyone close to you they think is you).
If it was small enough to go in a bin you really should have had it sent to a locker if you were going to be out (or even if you thoght you might be).
Not your fault but many failings on both sides.0 -
Luckily, I bought the item using my Credit card, and have informed them. I just wanted to know if I can escalate this issue without going through the Indian based customer service that seems to be all telling me the same bull?
I really want to know how to escalate this without going through customer service. All they seem to do is put me through a department that just feeds me the same rubbish about going to the police and getting a crime number.
Your credit card company should send you a form to complete.
They will probably initially attempt to do a chargeback.
Delivering an item (especially one which requires a signature) to a bin isn't delivery in my opinion.
Let your credit card company do all the hard work. That's what you pay them for.0 -
As above if you haven’t nominated the bin as an alternative delivery point and they stated a signature was required you should be ok on this.
One unfortunate side effect tho - it is likely that Amazon will terminate your account.
Not that you have done anything wrong in the case, just that they don’t like to be wrong0 -

However you know where you are and if deliverys are going to be as planned surely? I get no issues. On the day you say is becoming an important factor in delivery these days. If you live somewhere reasonable you expect it. If you don't use a drop point for expensive items.
You also know if things are going to be stolen of your driveway mostly. I too am annoied at it. I hope you file a report and offer a photo every time it occurs or you are just perpetuating the problem.
The only "handed to householder" in error I approve of was the time I accidently left the conservatory doors at the back open. They probably though I was on the loo. Was much more that could have gone missing then!
Oh My abandoned at front door was marked "left in safe place". I do not have one. There are many they could use but I will not specify one to remove liability. They probably assumed becuase a car was on the drive it was fine. It stayed there, but that is likey around here.
What let's amazon delivery's down it the fact they are not traked until 8 stop away. Yes I know some deliverers will be delivering non amazon stuff. But just estimate the time or say unspecified. Also a proper notice the night before it goes out would help.
Oddly enough the only company that does "The Best" at delivering these days is currys/pc world. It also fixes the issue of them trying to sell you crap in store.
What should be done? Who knows. People always opt for bottom tier deliverers (mostly) even if they are offered better. But often t hey do not even get a choice. I will pay more for amazon delivered stuff because I know it gets here (not to mention on some items I get it means I will either not get a fake or have an easy return).
I think there is a growing market for hose drop boxes as a safe point. You leave them open and they auto lock after putting something in. It seems so many people in dodgy areas/situations just chance it and expect the company to deal with it (I am not saying it is the case here).
I also WFH most of the time so I accept it is easier for me! But everyone has a choice that thay can go for. Why make it hard for yourself when it goes wrong?0 -

Ive chosen a local post office or the nearest sorting office to collect Amazon parcels from if I know or suspect I wont be in to receive it.0 -

Not on the first go they won't. But some people expect the moon on a stick and get upset they cannot have it.
And such is their right even if it was the first order. Being a customer is not a protected right as some people feel. (certain situations excepted).0
