And thank you for pointing me to salary calculator! I’ve been working out my mat pay my just dividing my take home and working out what 75% is but I’m sure I’ll be slightly better off as won’t be paying as much higher rate tax. Will check that out! X0

There's a guide to Money Transfer cards on the MSE site. There are fees involved, usually around 3% so perhaps only would be useful for reducing costs on Zopa Loan 1?0

Thank you, I’ll take a look at that 😀😃:beer:0

Good weekend spending wise. Only 4.50 spent over the whole weekend on a pair of bumpers for my little girl. Needed as she’s gone up a size. We had her feet measured in one place and browsed there but then went to somewhere else cheaper and got them in the same!
Also some good news. In switching energy provider it turns out we’re in quite a lot of credit. Around £500. I’m not sure if they still need to take anything but I don’t think so as the payment came out recently. I guess it might mean a refund in due course 0 -
Ps pay day tomorrow so I moved what’s still in my account (£450) into savings0

It’s been a good week so far. All I’ve spent is £1.80 on a drink and £60 for my weekly travel card. I usually get annual but I’ve only got a few weeks til Mat leave so at this stage the weekly works out best.
Other good news, my OH got paid for some work he did last month so I’ve topped savings to £1000 instead of spending on house stuff and then used the extra few hundred to pay towards the debt. So it’s dropped a bit so far to £12,482.41 - the usual payments are still to come out along with any overpayments I make this month with my salary.
Slightly annoying that both energy providers have taken payment because of timing but not too much of an issue as my OH contacted Co-op (who we are leaving) and they will just pay it back with the rest of the credit that they are holding at a later date. Once that arrives it will go straight to the debt.
I can tell I’m in debt busting mode as I’m unreasonably annoyed about my 1.80 spend on a drink. But my bus was cancelled and it was hot and being pregnant I really needed a drink (I had drunk the one I carry for emergencies). 0 -
No new spending to report this week with the exception of £60 for my weekly travel for next week (I buy it from the train station on the Friday in advance so I can use it on the bus Monday morning). We’ve been eating from our stores so no food etc needed.
I’m going to examine the food stores tonight to see if I need to do a shop tomorrow or if we can eek out a little longer. Get a feeling the freezer isles will be busy with the heat!
I’ve paid a few dribs and drabs over to a loan, rounding down my account, as I’ve seen suggested here. Not added it all up yet though...0 -
Ps I’m hoping that I can be in the 11k zone my next month. Looking forward to being below 10k - that feels like a significant milestone 0

If you dont have an emergency fund build it gradually. Decluttering is one good way too start, ie stick a few bits on ebay or gumtree is one way too build it.
Another option is market research surveys have you looked into those.0 -
Hi- thanks for the ideas! Yes, I have £1000 emergency fund now. I’m not doing surveys because I work such long hours and can’t face it but my husband is! He’s been doing them while our daughter sleeps - on swag bucks. He’s already had about £40 amazon vouchers because he’s played some games (he enjoys that kind of thing). Seems an easy way to make money! We’re using the vouchers to buy birthday gifts so we don’t have to use our own funds. :beer:0
