Thank you for all the messages everyone.
I was in the queue at Aldi at 8.45am. There were only 6 people in front of me. At 8.55am there were 50 people in the queue, I counted.
I bought one and am amazed, it's brilliant.
Long story cut very short now.
I ordered a digital camera a few days ago on the web. They tried to deliver yesterday to the wrong house number, I phoned today and they said "it's not out for delivery today as we are waiting your instructions, but you can come and collect" This is a place 26 miles away from me.
Not far I know but I can't even use the directions given by theaa.com and rac etc that you can get from their website and I can't really read a map very well. I thought let's give the sat nav a try.
It got me to where I needed to go brilliantly, no problems what so ever. I had no idea where I was going but it lead me the right way.
So glad I bought this :-)0 -

Can anyone who has purchased this unit from Aldi please post the precise Medion Model Number? It usually is on the back on the unit and may be in the format MD9999.
Thanks0 -
MD 95900 is the model no. on the back of the one i bought today.
As i said earlier it tested well for me on my first trip but i agree with above that you still have to put in the address. If you type in the full post code it does not seem to work.If you type in the first bit i.e. NR6 it will then give a list of places /villages etc so i hope someone can enlighten me as to what i am doing wrong, cheers TrevorOnwards and Upwards0 -
i bought one of these yesterday, though my radiator blew on the way back from the shop so i've not managed to test it yet!!!
seems fine though - my uncle bought what i think is the samee one from makro for £70 more the other week.
as said above, whilst messing around at home, i have noticed that you have to put the town in before the postcode - it found my place to the exact intersection. it seems though to only recognise the first section and one didgit of the second of a postcode.
but all in all i think is ok - considering i've saved £110 at least on a navman 510 which i was gonna buy.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
We use one of the previous aldi pda versions, as well as Tom Tom on 2 pda's. Bought one of these units on Thursday as well, just as good as the others systems with the added bonus that the staff can't play around with it like the pda's.
Regarding postcodes it only uses first five digits any more and it wont recognise anything, ie ch64 4, this is the same as previous aldi versions and tom tom. (tom tom 5 now supports 7 digits)0 -
i bought one of these as well and its amasing. ive spent the whole day working out how to get the uk speed (sorry........ SAFETY) camera database on it and it worksjust a bit fidly. if anyone wants to do this then send me a pm and i can guide you over msn or telephone. i have all the files needed on my desktop also. totaly worth the price - i often get 7 or 8 satelites in range and it is great. sometimes the speach is a bit delayed and she does like to give plenty of warning before you have to turn left ect. but when you get used to it its totally worth it.#113 12K in 2020 Challenge #113 £17,103/£12,000 £150000
