Fish tank

I bought a Fish tank from a well known pet shop about 4 months ago.
(The things parents do to keep the kids happy...
)
It constantly spits/bubbles water which then dribbles down the side of the tank. Not faulty, just a rubbish design.
I currently have lots of kitchen roll surrounding the tank to stop the water spreading/pooling. Not ideal. I want a tank that doesn't leak.
I can't just return it obviously, but to go and buy a new one in their store, set it up and transfer the fish, then return the rubbish one would be a pain in the bum, as the store is 45 minutes away, so 3 hours of driving in total!
What would be advised in this situation?
I've tried putting less and more water in the tank but it still does it.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

It might help if you say what fish you're keeping and whether the tank is heated etc.0

Get a tray for it to sit in? You can then sponge out the water daily when it collects.0

Just a few danio fish, so fresh water and not heated. A small tank.Aylesbury_Duck wrote: »Get a tray for it to sit in? You can then sponge out the water daily when it collects.
I could do that, but I'd rather have a tank that just didn't dribble water the first place.
And a tray would look ugly!!
It's on a mat at the moment.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

Ok, I thought you’d ruled out taking it back so were looking for a practical solution. I’m not sure what else you can do if you don’t want to drive to get a new one and transfer the fish. What other options are there?0

Well I can get another tank, but it would have to be from a local aquatic centre much nearer (which I probably should have gone to in the first place). Better quality but more expensive! (That's fine though if it doesn't dribble)
But I'm thinking I haven't just got the right to then return the other one next time I'm heading in that direction for a full refund? Do I not need to let them have the opportunity to replace/repair/refund at their choice??Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

If the water is bubbling out from the surface rather than a leak in the sides of the tank then all you need is a condensation/splash guard and it will keep almost all of the water inside (almost every tank will have a small amount of leakage but usually easily managed and hardly noticeable). You can also look at adjusting the positioning and flow of the filter and any air stones to keep the surface disruption at a minimum.0

What is causing the spitting/bubbling, an air pump or the filter? Which tank/filter is it?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

If the OP is looking for a solution to the problem (rather than to take it back) then the above are important questions.0 -
If it's Pets At Home (why be coy about it?) which tank is it?
