Amazon vouchers 'invalid' but bought from Morrisons (and I have receipt to prove it!)

Hi, I'm new to the forum - please bear with me!
I was given a thank you gift of £200 Amazon vouchers from the Company I work for but when I went to register them on my Amazon account it came up 'GC Claim code is invalid'. There are 4 lots of £50, I have opened 2 they both say the same. All the vouchers have the Morrisons receipts attached to them, they are a couple of days old so I should be able to register them. Amazon have told me that the cards are 'empty' they haven't been registered and I must go back to Morrisons. Morrisons have told me that as they show the correct code (relative to the card purchased) on the receipt they 'cannot refund me/give me working cards as they've fulfilled their part of the contract?. I'm normally pretty savvy with my legal rights that goods must be fit for purpose etc but according to Morrisons this doesn't apply to gift cards? As far as I am concerned my contract was with Morrisons not with Amazon, they should give me working cards and sort it out with them not have me stuck in the middle. At the moment they are both denying liability and someone has my £200, and it's not me
Getting a call back tomorrow apparently and Morrisons will get in touch with their head office to to sort it out with Amazon but I'd just like to know what my rights are if they become difficult
Any advice gratefully received!

As you did not buy them I'd give them back to your company and ask them to sort it out.0

I would pass it back to the company you work for and get them to sort it out.
Your contract is not with Morrisons as you did not make the purchase.0 -
Easier to let your employer sort it out.
Don't recall needing to register the cards Ive had in the past, I just entered the relevant code.0 -
Thanks for your replies I see you are all suggesting to let my employer sort it out. It's a bit difficult with a thank you gift tbh, I'm not the sort of person who would go back to my employer with that!0

But you have no other option.
Otherwise kiss bye bye to the money0 -
The trouble is, if you draw a blank it’s only your employer who can deal with it. Can you now drop them a nice email thanking them for the lovely gesture and explaining you need a bit of help to unpick an admin error?0

Why on earth not? If you don't go back to your employer, they will have wasted the £200. If I were your employer, I'd want to know. Do what Aylesbury Duck suggests in #7.
PS - I presume your employer may not have paid the full face price, but somebody has lost £200 in value. Shouldn't be you or your employer. All assuming there is nothing "dodgy" about the vouchers.0 -
I've had this problem with Amazon gift cards bought at Morrisons, but it was £15 not £200. Morrisons tried to insist it was nothing to do with them, even though the receipt was Morrisons and it took 2 visits and a lot of polite discussion before they finally gave in. I only buy Amazon cards from Amazon now.0

My daughter tried to buy a gift card from a petrol station.
They took the payment but then they could not get the gift card to add the payment on.
When she asked for a refund they said they could not refund her.
Unbelievable.
She refused to leave until they did so.0 -
I had a problem with an Amazon gift card. Turned out that the upper case letters in the code needed to be entered as lower case on the Amazon website.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson
