    I got some amazon gift cards for my birthday and I had a real struggle as the code on the back was not recognised, turns out I had to rip open the card and inside there was another card with a different code on that was the one to type in.
    (Although I could be wrong, I often am.)

    I purchased £15 Amazon gift voucher from my local Morrisons on the 3rd June as a gift for my sister. My sister attempted to use the voucher online on the 5th June but it wouldn't work. After contacting Amazon she was advised that the card was not activated at the point of sale, Morrisons. I returned to Morrisons on the 6th June and explained that the card would not work, they said it was nothing to do with them I have to go back to Amazon. Amazon again confirmed that the card has not been activated.

    My sister went into Morrisons with her tablet, logged on to her Amazon account to prove the card did not work. Morrisons again state it is nothing to do with them but a third party company called Blackhawk who supply the gift cards. I have asked Morrisons for a refund or replacement as per the consumer rights act 2015 as the voucher is faulty and not fit for purpose. At no point have Morrisons ever offered to replace but keeping wanting me to contact Blackhawk who supply the gift card. I have stood firm as I purchased the gift card from Morrisons.

    So 30 days on, I am still have a gift card that doesn't work, Amazon stating the card has not been validated, Blackhawk stating the card is validated and Morrisons who in my opinion are breaching the consumer rights act.

    Any help or suggestions would be welcome.

    Take the card and the receipt into Morrisons and remind them that you have 'a contract' with Morrisons not Blackhawk and insist that Morrisons refund you and that they take it up with Blackhawk if they wish.

    As an aside give cash not vouchers...not so many problems with money!

    I have been in contact with Morrisons Customer service via Twitter and this is their response;
    Hi Julie, sorry to hear this. Unfortunately you would need to contact Blackhawk again or Amazon to see if they can provide any more info as once a gift card has been purchased it lands with the company related to the Gift card to deal with any queries or issues. - Ben

    So if you buy a tin of Heinz beans, you get home and open them to find they've perished, you're supposed to go direct to Heinz to complain and get a refund? Absolute rubbish! A gift card is no different.

    ^^ Exactly. They're just fobbing you off. They're in violation of consumer law as the vouchers are clearly not fit for purpose. They cannot try and pass you on to their third party. They must sort it out themselves.

    I'd try writing a letter to head office with all your evidence. State that a Letter Before Action, followed by a court claim will follow if the vouchers are not fully refunded.

    So 5 weeks on I still have a £15 Amazon gift card purchased in Morrisons that does not work. I have written confirmation from Amazon that the card has not been activated. The latest fob off from Morrisons is really something:

    Morning Julie, I'm sorry to hear this hasn't been resolved, We only facilitate the sale of these items and any issues beyond the cards being made active is the responsibility of the brand - Dave

    I have replied to Dave asking him for a written copy of Morrisons terms and conditions that confirm the above statement.
