Wow this is a really comprehensive and well written piece. I found a few Netflix hacks while browsing through other forums.
How to get Netflix for free without actual 'hacking'

The most simple way to have a free account on Netflix. All you need is, at least 4/5 different credit or debit cards - a new mail address and close your account after 30 days free trail. Here is how you can do it:

    1. Create a new mail account
    2. Register with credit card A for the 30-days trial period
    3. Watch movies but don’t forget to cancel your account (when you want)
    4. At the end of the 30 days trial, close your account and mail [email protected] and ask them to deleted your account and all data related.
    5. Create a new mail account B
    6. Register with credit card B for the 30-days trial period
    7. Repeat.

And there you have it, if you are willing go through all these steps every 30 days. Personally, I would rather opt for sharing a Netflix Premium Account with 4 people, which is only $3 a month, half the price of a single basic account.

In fact there are sites like sharepremiumaccounts that facilitate account sharing process where they serve as an escrow for secured payment collection between parties. This way, you save a great deal on your subscription fee, and it saves you the hassle of going through all these steps just to get that free trail.

  • What a faff just to diddle Netflix out of a few quid.
If you think it’s worth having then it’s worth paying for. The content costs money to create and there is no advertising so if everyone did this the content quality would reduce and nobody would think its worth it so Netflix would cease to exist.
I’m surprised MSE is advocating this discussion. Do we all want to be reduced to watching repeats of Vera with adverts?

Thankyou for these Netflix Hacks, you've helped me save £3 per month. I thought I was on the basic deal, but surprisingly not. So again thankyou for discussing this topic.

If you have the £6.00 a month this is how to let two people watch Netflix at the same time. One person has to download what ever you want to watch onto your phone when it has finished downloading switch off your WiFi and 4g then start watching your download

I have downgraded from standard to basic because of this price rise. I wonder how many other customers have done the same and as a result are Netflix now earning less money than they were before this price rise. Could they have shot themselves in the foot?

Maybe, and I'd certainly downgrade if it made sense for us. However we share a £13.99 subscription among three families, so that top rate still makes sense for us.

Yes billions of customers stay on standard .
  • I don't think Netflix has Billions of subscribers.
