You spent £28k on a van with no spare wheel?0 -
Some weird questions but thanks
FYI dealer agreed to reimburse us cost of changing it locally so we’ll go ahead. Nb they had apparently noted the tyre and ordered a replacement but omitted to change it hence marking it as ok on the vehicle check sheet
To answer some questions ;
- gave van once over but didn’t think to even check the tyres given it’s only got 9k on it and these were explicitly ticked in the 160 point pre sale inspection . Also haven’t checked the brakes wipers screen wash battery oil level water level etc
- van has 8 seats ; but even if it only had 5 that’s still enough room for 4 kids! Not sure what relevance this has but thanks for your input
- yes drove it back from quik fit ; it’s 0.5miles from home and on the school run route. Plus it’s dry today and all on 30mph roads
- yes giving dealer chance to do something; we can cancel quikfit - just seemed better all round that we fix and they reimburse us
Thanks all for inputLeft is never right but I always am.0 -
Oh and last question :
No spare tyre comes with inflation kit - but what relevance is this anyway? The implication being that I would change the tyres in order to drive back to the dealer ?
Nothing wrong with stating what you the consumer see as a fair solution to an issue imoLeft is never right but I always am.0 -

Oh right so it's too dangerous for the kids when it suits. As long as you realise distance isn't a defence when it comes to using its.
Half a mile and you use it for the school run, really?0 -

What would happen if you got stopped by the police? You would have had no defence whatsoever. You should have rung the dealer and demand a fitter be sent with a new tyre. Sounds like previous owner had a puncture and threw on an old tyre.0 -

Yes that was the decision taken; having driven it 30miles home already and only noticing the issue at 8am this morning once loaded I decided to complete the school run and call into kwikfit on the way homeLeft is never right but I always am.0 -
Oh and quick fit is half a mile from home, school run is 3miles round trip
Tone on this thread is so weird ! Why would I lie about anything?Left is never right but I always am.0 -

That was a risk worth taking imo and I find that ringing and demanding doesn’t nevcassarily get best resultsLeft is never right but I always am.0 -

Well if you don't mind getting points on your licence or the handling of the van being affected...0 -
