  • Thanks for popping in Sarah, I'll check your diary out too :) With the account tidying I do it on the days I spend money on my debit card (although try to have as many NSD'S as possible) or when a DD goes out, the majority of these are on the same day though. Always based on the actual balance otherwise I confuse myself and have to do it twice (has happened more than once, at least the credit card benefited from it even if my budget didn't :rotfl:)

Today I've sent a £34.15 payment to the mortgage account as part of my 1% mortgage challenge.

Have also forgot to amend the S/O to Mum which I paid manually yesterday so another £50 has gone to her today :o

TCB has saved me and the budget on this front though as the £100 from when we switched Broadband has become payable :T so have swiftly cashed that out, the other £50 will go towards the credit card then I'll be close to the £500 debt reduction target for February.

We won't have any other big payouts from TCB until much later in the year when we start the car and house insurance and breakdown cover renewals in April, it will be a miss as we've had a good run on payouts as a result of using it to rejig all our bills/insurances when I was on maternity last year. At least it's all been put to good use.

Must confess to still being in bed :o I was up with DS2 quite a lot last night, he just couldn't settle for some reason, very unusual for him :(, so DH got up with both boys at 6.30 and I've taken advantage and manage to get caught up on sleep.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend x

Good that your DH has helped out with the boys. Wishing you a full recovery soon.

You're doing well with clearing down the debt. Your 40s will improve although I expect your little ones can be quite challenging - I'm sure they bring laughter and joy too

Thanks I’m gonna give it a try, every little helps and maybe I will be able to save myself enough that I can buy some new clothes as put myself on a ban at the moment to not buy anything that isn’t a NEED.

  • Well after decluttering the house top to bottom while on maternity leave last year it turns out that I have a whole lot more to get rid of - 2 large bags of outgrown baby things ready for the charity shop & 7 items listed on eBay until next Sunday, got a couple of bids/watchers so a few extra pennies for the CC all being well.
(I'm not at all avoiding the coursework I need to do :shhh: )
In more shocking news, DH has finally come to the realisation that he never watches the many boxes of DVD's that he's had stored in our loft for years :p He's just trying to decide whether it's worth listing a few of them on eBay or FB or just scanning the whole lot to Music Magpie, I'm leaving it up to him, I don't want any blame coming my way ;)
Early night tonight in readiness for the nightmare that will be work next week, I was already behind before having to be off with the boys last week so it's going to be a tough week but I've rested this weekend, batch cooked our evening meals & the house is reasonably tidy so can focus fully on getting caught up. DH also has a busy week as he's been thrown into several projects now that he's back on full time hours following his phased return. Should be good for keeping spends down as we won't have much spare time, I think we'll be both be shattered by Friday. There's a homemade fakeaway ready to defrost & a bottle of wine or 2 tucked away in readiness for Friday night, need a treat to look forward to :)
Hope everyone has a good week, take care x

Hey DITR! Hope getting back to work isn't too much stress! its a nightmare knowing you are going back into work already behind schedule.

I envy your batch cooking! I so wish i could get into shape with this, it would save me loads of time

Have a great week and i am sure the fakeaway and wine will be very well earned

Good that your DH is joining in the decluttering. I have set myself a target of getting rid of a bag of stuff a week (average) for the year - and it is helping.

  • Thanks Dan, work is challenging to say the least and DS2 is still unsettled at night so feeling a bit sleep deprived which isn't helping :( but I'm just focusing on the priority tasks and I'll sort everything else when the dust settles, The batch cooking has been a godsend this week. I can't say I'm very good at doing it regularly but every 2 or 3 weeks I seem to have a day when I get in the zone so try to make the most of it :)

Thanks to you too Saving, that's a good target as little and often just seems that bit more manageable doesn't it? I've been really strict with DS2's toys and clothes as he's outgrown them and immediately put them into a bag, once that's full it goes straight to the charity shop. I've just been surprised to discover more stuff that needs to go from everywhere else in house as I was ruthless last year and we really haven't bought much 'stuff' in the last year, we definitely consider our purchases more than we ever used to. Perhaps it's just due to the fact that having done that and being much more focused on experiences I'm just getting super ruthless :D

In debt busting news, the TCB payout arrived today so as previously stated £50 went to cover the extra payment to Mum and the other £50 has gone to the CC. Had a few account tidies since being paid on the 26th so debt payments for this pay period have hit £514 meaning we have hit our £500 target for the month :T Signature updated.

Congrats on over-achieving against your target.
On the decluttering - stuff seems to multiply - I can always find a use for stuff - so struggle to let go. I blitzed the house last summer but it kind of needs doing again - not to the same extent but enough...

Well its all very different around here isn't it? Haven't quite figured out how it all works yet. Looks like 2 items are going to sell at a profit, watchers on another 2 items so might have to dig a few more things out.
Not much else happening but I'm taking that as a positive, looking forward to the weekend.
Hope everyone else is well, I'll try catching up over the weekend once I get used to the new layout ;)
