Glad you are recovering. I've heard a few others say this latest strain is really bad. I'm having a vaccine Sunday because of that.

Hope you soon settle into your new role. Good to have more than one iron in the fire.

    Fantastic about the switching bonus.

  • Hope the vaccine does it's job SH and you avoid getting it. Definitely my worst experience of Covid to date.

Switch money turned up yesterday, just set up online access to the account and it's now safely transferred to our savings account 😊

I've just helped DH to organise switching his personal account to Nati0nwide too so hopefully that will be a further £200 to come in later this month too.

Hey! I’m so sorry you’ve been poorly, I also had Covid in August and was so poorly. Glad everything is pushing forward for you.  Thanks so much for popping over to my diary too.
  • New job continues to be 'ploddy' It's a quiet time of year for the business and I'm not familiar with the nature of the work which isn't helping me grasp it as quickly as I'd like either. Seems to be a learn by doing/repetition role which would be fine but enquiries are few and far between at the moment. When it's quiet, it's very quiet! Trying to keep perspective, I'm lucky to have a job, the team are friendly enough and the hours fit in with family life, just a bit of a change of gear that's taking some adjusting to. I'm my own worst enemy at times!

Doing well on V!nted sales, lots of the kids outgrown stuff going in bundles. Por!ific also going well. DH's Nationw!de switch due to happen today so the switch bonus should be with us soon. All extra earnings are being squirreled away in the $antander 5.08% savings for now.

Need to renew breakdown cover and Prime subscription next month, also need to get my backside into gear for Xmas, think I'm in denial how close it is!
  • DH off work today so we've had a lazy day at home putting up Halloween decorations and carving pumpkins. We;ve also had another decluttering session on the boys toys and been a bit ruthless on the bin/donate/keep ratios so the toy storage is looking nice and organised for once! Won't be buying too many toy based gifts for them for Christmas and have sent a message to family and friends to ask them to also consider other options such as experiences/vouchers/clothes and also said there's no pressure to get them anything at all given the COL crisis

I got the date wrong for DH's Nationw!de switch, it happened today. No sign of the switch bonus yet though.

Last week I requested a transfer of my pension pot from my last job to my SIPP, received confirmation today that it's all been processed. Very impressed with how quickly this has gone through.

Plans for the weekend are to take the boys for their swimming lesson in the morning, come home and the 4 of us have a blitz on chores before taking the boys to my Mums for a sleepover as DH and I are going to an engagement party. No plans for Sunday as yet but may take the children around family members houses for trick or treating, this is very much dependent on how much alcohol DH and I have tomorrow night, hopefully we'll be grown up and civilised  :D

Well done on the pension sorting so fast. Good to keep on top of it and not cash it out. Well done too on the switching.

I know what you mean about the ploddy job - it sounds like it is the right thing for you and yours at the moment.

    Hope the party is fun.

DH's pay day today so relevant money shuffling completed.

DH's Nat!onwide switch bonus also arrived today so that's been moved to savings.

End of October WWOTW figure is £69,750: Mortgage is £64,800, Credit Card is £4950. A few nice little milestones hit with each of those figures moving into a new thousand owed bracket, really pleased to see the total figure owed is now in the 60's rather than the 70's.

Savings were boosted in October with my switch money, and 2 tax rebates - 1 from the old job and one from the new job as well as the usual interest earned, receipt scanning, V!nted and Pro!ific surveys and overall we adjusted to the new reduced income well so not a bad month on the money front. Plan for November is to continue sending any 'free money' across to the savings to maximise interest earned on this account.

Still getting used to the new job but getting there slowly, I have also secured an ad-hoc role working with an old employer which should fit in well around the new job and help boost income. This will start some time next month once reference checks, etc are completed and will be a variable income as it will be paid based on hours worked rather than a regular salary but should be a minimum of 20 hours per month so worth while if I can juggle the 2 roles.

Short shift at work this afternoon then will be having a quick bite to eat before taking the children out trick or treating. We're away this weekend for a little mini break and then will need to get into planning and organising for Christmas. I know who we're buying for, just need to confirm gift ideas and get them bought and wrapped. Hoping to do this before December so we can just enjoy the build up to the big day. Also need to get our Xmas PJ's/Jumpers down from the loft and list the outgrown/unwanted items on V!nted.
