"What We Owe The World" Total: £70,225
    Mortgage balance £65,100
    Credit Card balance £5,125
    Student Loan balance £0

    Savings Total: £14,400

    September plans/focus:

    • Get the kids settled back in school, both go back on Wednesday and DS1 moves to a new school to start juniors so want to ensure he settles.  Achieved, minus a few days off due to Covid, both settled in well. DS2 LOVES his new school and is doing well which is a big relief. DS2 has a love/hate relationship with school but is doing okay for now...
    • Get through the last few weeks at work. Achieved, was productive up to the last day and had some lovely conversations with colleagues/suppliers before I left.
    • Keep an eye on the local jobs market. Achieved, new job starts next week   :#
    • Keep unplanned spends to a minimum. Kind of achieved if we ignore the new car purchase...
    • Keep calm! Kind of achieved  :D

    October plans:
    Stay healthy
Commit to learning the new job
List lots of things on Vinted!

Wow - it sounds like things really fell into place for you - I'm sure it took a lot more work / effort than indicated here - well done. Sorry to hear that covid came calling. Glad you are all on the mend again now. Good luck in your new role. Good to have left the last place on good terms - you never know when you'll meet some of the same people again.

I agree it seems very prevalent again. A friend of mine said she was delirious for three days with it!

Congratulations on the new job  , hopefully this is going to be a better suited role to your current needs. You made a tough decision when you knew you weren't happy and it seems to have paid off. Good luck!

    Congratulations on the new job
    !
  • Thanks for all the well wishes @beanielou @savingholmes @dawnybabes @Sarahwithlove @FootyFanDan @missymoo81 much appreciated.

Apologies for the silence but it's taken me quite a while to fully get over the covid, I'm only feeling back to some sort of normal since yesterday so it's been a rough couple of weeks. Anyone I know who has it at the moment seems equally wiped out by it, no fun at all.

Not the best time to be starting a new job but have just got my head down and done what I can. It's going okay, lots to learn but making lots of notes & asking lots of questions until it all sinks in. Off now until Tuesday which is great.

Still have an old employer keeping in touch with me every now and then as they may have a role for me to work on an upcoming contract if they get the go ahead so that's quietly on the back burner as a possible 'plan B' if the new job doesn't work out.

With feeling rubbish I really haven't had the energy to do much apart from school runs, work and basic chores, it's been a really boring way of living I'm so pleased I'm on the mend!

In money news not sure if I mentioned I'd applied to switch my personal spends account to Nationwid3 or not but the switch happened on Tuesday and just had a text to say the £200 switching bonus should be with me within 10 days so that will be an excellent contribution to this month's free money. We've had a few payment free months on some of the regular direct debits, including the boy's swimming lessons so once interest, V!nted sales, cash back, Prolific and receipt apps are added then the October free £ currently stands at a very healthy £210.29. Rather than pay this off the holiday as I'd planned, DH would rather it sits in the savings account accruing interest until the balance due date so we're going to do that. All rigidly tracked on the budgeting spreadsheet though

The heating has been off until last night when we popped it on for an hour to check all working okay and to warm upstairs ready for the kids going to bed as the temperature has dropped a few degrees here, think that's the longest run without heating we've done. The account is £300 in credit and we have a 1 year fix so hopefully we are well placed for winter.

Looking forward to having a much needed catch up with my bestie this evening over a couple of coffees and then we've got a few little family activities planned over the weekend so that we can have some fun together after the last few weeks.

Hope everyone else is keeping well.
