    Well done on steps.

Great news that the kids are back at school! Glad they're feeling better for their sake and yours!

We remain lurgy free since Monday!
We have an unbelievably clear garden, gained so much extra space and light (south facing so this will really pay dividends when the longer days and warmer weather arrives, so pleased we got this work done).
I'm a year older than when I last posted! DH and I enjoyed lunch on my birthday. The boys enjoyed opening my cards & gifts! As well as a little picnic/buffet style tea.
I had a lovely, low key afternoon out with the girls yesterday to celebrate mine and best friend's birthday (hers is next week), we got a little tipsy and set the world to rights. DH and I enjoyed a takeaway when I got home as the boys were already in bed.
Still waiting on the TCB money becoming payable.
We've been for the weekly shop today, replace DS1's worn out trainers (honestly how much footwear have we replaced recently)? some bigger size underwear for DS1 and also bought DS2 new swimming shorts & a new wooly hat as his fave has disappeared at school  :/
Pay day was on Friday, all pots topped up, CB due tomorrow and DH gets paid Tuesday.

We reduced our 'what we owe the world' by £615 in January. No change to our savings total as we've cash flowed my new phone, the gardening work (money VERY well spent) and DH buying some tech to support the band he's in which will be reimbursed form their next gig.

    NSD's - 8.  (14 in total for Jan)
Steps - 47.072, daily average 6724 (190,477 total for Jan, average 6568 per day).

Pretty happy with that, steps could be better but I'm doing more than I normally would now that I'm tracking them. Will log back in Tuesday to finalize January's numbers as target for February is to increase the step count despite fewer days in the month.

Hope everyone else is well x

Glad to hear you enjoyed your birthday, sounds like you had fun.

It's so annoying when the kids stuff goes missing at school! I feel your pain!

  • The lurgy has come back in spades - DH & DS2 had been feeling out of sorts Mon and Tuesday. Took a COVID test as a precaution and the both tested positive 🙁 both been largely relegated to mine and DH's bedroom (I've then shared with DS1) and between looking after them, DS1 also being off school on Wed due to strike action and a particularly challenging work week I'm definitely feeling a bit 😱 it's all feeling a bit relentless at the moment

DS1 has been a little star helping me look after his Daddy & brother and helping with chores. As a reward we left the patients at home watching a film this morning while I took DS1 out for lunch and a treat. He chose a scrapbook to store his artwork in as he's really getting into drawing lately and also bought a jigsaw that caught his eye. It was lovely to get out and spend some quality time with him, he really enjoyed having some undivided attention too (was also good to have a break from hearing all the coughs and sneezes 🥴). It was good to get out, not left the house much in the last few days.

My throat is hurting now, so I'm sucking strepsils and drinking hot honey & lemon to try to get rid, I don't have time to be ill!
DH and DS2 definitely have a little more energy & appetite today so hopefully they're turning a corner, will test them both in the morning as both need a negative result before being allowed back to school & work (DH would have usually just continued with WFH is due to be office based delivering training this week, not looking likely at this moment in time).

Money is ticking over at the moment, we've been getting our wage paid directly into our savings account and then allocating a fixed amount to the bills account, £600 to regular savings and then sending a weekly amount across to the general spends account for groceries, petrol/diesel, miscellaneous. This means we're earning a little interest on the money waiting to be allocated to the general spends and we're keeping a little buffer of easy access money in here to for upcoming house jobs. We've been doing this since November, apart from the regular savers which we set up at the start of the year and it seems to be working well for the moment, DH is onboard with it which is half the battle.

Bath and early night tonight, I'm desperate not succumb to the lurgy!

Hope everyone else is okay x

The illnesses feel constant, it’s exhausting! Hope you & DS1 stay well and DH & DS2 recover quickly.

  • I tested positive for Covid Tuesday morning 😔 just as DS2 tested negative. Got him and DS1 in and out of school this week with a lot of family and friends help. I managed to rejig my work calendar so I could WFH, but I'm so pleased the working week is done.

Thankfully my symptoms haven't been too bad, just cold like and feeling exhausted and not quite 'with it'.

DH has been pretty ill, been off all week & bedridden until today so he's not been able to help much.

DS1 came home from school this afternoon in tears as he felt unwell and had a temperature, he's still testing negative but wouldn't shock me if that changes.

So another boring germ filled week, totally fed up with it all now. Suppose it stops us spending money though so at least we're being MSE if nothing else 🤣
