Unhygienic van conversions being used as housing, must be stopped

Options
About three years in my village we had to have three large vans removed which were converted into stealth living quarters which were starting to become an eyesore. I have since seen hundreds if not thousands of these types of vans littered all over the county and now the country, and those are the ones that are obvious and I detect, some are not so easy.

1. Are these drop outs receiving housing benefit?
2. Is there perfectly good rental housing they could afford?(i say yes)
3. Is there a serious health and safety issue here, not to mention hygiene.

Sorry a load more of them today and and they now seem to be setting up sites, seen the FB group they use.

What about the tiny house movement?

Some of them are really nice.

You never really own your property you are just renting off the Queen. Try not paying council tax to see wht I mean.

But with a tiny house on wheels you can truly own it and keep moving, you never have to pay council tax.

Until property corrects to fair value there will be a rise of these alternative living options
Nothing has been fixed since 2008, it was just pushed into the future

You mean they are daring not to live the closed and cloistered life which is all you can imagine? Suffocated by chintz and DFS sofas on credit, while you trudge numbly towards your next performance appraisal. One more year closer to the grave, another pat on the head as a good consumer.

Rinse, repeat, die a little more from the neck down.

Yeah, you're winning the game. Keep telling yourself that.

1, No, so stop worrying they are depriving you of rental income.
2, Your wishful thinking says yes and that it belongs to you.
3, No, that’s just clutching at straws hoping van living will be banned giving you more customers.

If you've seen thousands of people living in vans you are either delusional or live next to the M5 and are seeing holidaymakers in motor homes.

Why not as a good citizen extend the opportunity to use some of your great property empire as a measure of your humanity, compassion and good will to all.

I had a look at some of the OP's other posts after seeing some of the rponses here. I see what you mean, a deeply unempathic individual.

There's no reason someone living in a properly set-up van would be living in any worse conditions than someone in a rental flat. Part of the 'van life' normally involves gym memberships to get access to shower facilities, and you get plenty of flexibility.

It's not really that different to spending a week in a caravan.

I've also noticed a similar sort of thing – in London. There's a group of individuals outside a Sainsbury's, who have encamped in an area underneath the drive to a car park. They are not there all the time, but the piles of unhygienic detritus is (filthy mattresses, plastic bags, cardboard and so on). When there is someone there, they are shouting at each other in a foreign language and at passers-by. It is unpleasant and intimidating, so I just avoid the area. They look as though they are from the Middle East. Not sure why they haven't been deported. Must be good for the Sainsbury's store. :(

The ones living in caravans are I think likely to be in the same category as people living in cars. What happens with them is they get a visit from the local homeless department from the council and information on how to get housing.

If they are vans and parked on private land the council will not be able to do anything it will be up to the land owner to evict them. If they are on council land then the council can evict them. What the council can do is to prosecute the landowner for allowing people to live on their land without residential planning permission.

There are travellers sites and caravan sites up and down the country and the vans should really be on those. The problem I would have with them being in random places would be along the lines of sanitation. Where do they empty their toilets?

If they are on land belonging to Sainsbury's I think that Sainsbury's would be responsible for contacting the local council rough sleepers department. However I do think that any member of the public could do that?
