    They are mostly economic migrants

I can understand why economic migrants would want to come here, live as cheaply as possible, make some money and return home.

It’s up to us both to either provide proper facilities for this type of accomodation I.e. legal caravan parks and stop any illegal activity.

They do not have to live in my or anyone else's rental property, they can buy. But what we don't need is this country starting to look third world, I would be ashamed if my son decided to live like this.

Many are pushed into it. Renting can be very expensive for one person + it's an expensive hassle to find yourself getting a Section 21 regularly as the LL's selling your home from under you. Agent fees, monthly rents, credit checks, holding fees, deposit up front, waiting for decisions/choices to be made over whether you're "good enough" to rent from them, all those bills, many having to pay £150 every six months for another contract to be printed out .... you already feel like a gypsy to be honest, so why not bite the bullet and spend 8 months' rent on a bit of a decent van kitted out as best as you can manage and say "stuff the lot of them".

I'd do it if I had more confidence.

Just imagine how much worse it's all going to get as rental supply tightens.

Plumbers will be in demand as those people with large gardens will rent out parking spaces in their front gardens with access to an outdoor privy :)
