Why can't drivers think of others and indicate on roundabouts?

during a driving lesson I was waiting to join a roundabout,
A car entered form the previous entry signalling left.
My instructor told me to move out, but I was watching the front wheels of the car and they were not turning .
I did not move and the car continued round the roundabout,
My instructor did acknowledge that I had made the correct decision.
A lesson learned never to trust that a driver is indicating correctly.
That's an example of what I call "super-early indicating". I narrowly avoided a collision when entering a roundabout in a similar situation. The same people sit in queues indicating their intentions way too early. I suspect that they think of themselves as careful responsible drivers who always indicate their intentions albeit unnecessarily early.0 -

I still wouldn't trust people who indicate....
If you are at a T junction indicating right and waiting to pull out, car coming down the road to your right has his left indicator on (signally to turn left into your road) and you pull out in front of him and his hits you then you are in the wrong.
Yes he was giving you misleading but he could of left his indicator on, or changed his mind but still will be your fault. If you had side facing dash cam then you might get 25 or 50 and share the blame.0 -
Rule 3: expect other drivers to cut you up on the inside lane of an island as they attempt to traverse it in a straight line. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

All that tells the others is that the indicators work.0 -

I don't think I do.
When I'm on the inside to turn right and the person to the left of me who hasn't got the hang of following the lanes round, veers into my lane before shooting off down their exit. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Your average driver these days does not have the mental capacity to steer and indicate at the same time.0

I am constantly using hand signals on roundabouts to indicate that other drivers should be In lane 1 or lane 20

It's an unusual physiological trait suffered by drivers ... the index finger can only extend (alongside the middle finger) when signalling 2; when signalling 1 only the middle finger is able to extend. Odd that, isn't it.0
