Thank you everyone for your replies. I have spoken to the DWP today again i have been told again that the payments will definitely stop in three weeks. Apparently there is huge backlog caused by lots of people awards ending at this time of year the DWP have drafted in extra decision-makers to try and clear this backlog and mine has been placed on an urgent list . The DWP confirmed although They have had my award renewal notice and evidence since February 16 and have complied with the timeline given to me and the error is on their part payments would still stop when my sons award notice runs out. Fingers crossed my sons renewal claim will get looked at before then ,thank you for your help your all-stars xx

That is poor service, especially when it's there fault.

Have you contacted your MP about this?

IMO, this is very poor by the DWP - they would have known about the timings and numbers of awards, but have failed to resource / plan adequately.
For some people the ending of a DLA, due solely to DWP incompetence, and the consequent potential loss of CA, and perhaps IS, and then HB (as the IS had ended) would have a huge impact.

It forces people onto Universal Credit though, perhaps it's just the cynic in me.

After your son turns 16 he will get a letter inviting him to apply for PIP.

Until this happens he will remain on DLA.

Usually a letter is sent inviting them to claim PIP shortly after they turn 16. You will then have 1 month to ring to start the claim off.
  • Plus if you think about it, by the time you ring, receive the forms, return them, have an assessment and wait for a decision it won’t be far off, call it a transition period.
