I wish I'd read your post before i posted this :

In my humble opinion, you should counter with "Given the stress and hassle, and anxiety you have caused me, I suggest you send me £20 good will gesture. I will donate it to a mental health charity. I await your gesture and would point you to the test case
    Arkell V Pressdram 1971.

I have now written to the General Manager of the Hotel and added this bit below:

"I did call your reception to speak to your clients, however, I am shocked they sent me another letter asking me to pay a £20 "goodwill gesture".

I attach their latest letter to me. Please, kindly ask them to cancel this charge. I will be ready to defend this in the court and let them know that I will constitute any further unwanted contact as harassment and will sue as per Ferguson v British Gas Trading Ltd [2009] EWCA Civ 46 (10 February 2009), Roberts v Bank of Scotland Plc (Rev 1) [2013] EWCA Civ 882 (11 June 2013) and Bank of Scotland v Johnson (Rev 1) [2013] EWCA Civ 982 (19 June 2013). I just got a reply from the Hotel Management thus:

Thanks for your email – I have requested Parking Eye cancels this charge.
It can take a couple of weeks but I will let you know when I have a response
    Thanks

I will be waiting to see how long it takes them to cancel the ticket.

So, that email is your key ace card if it went to court.

There are clearly people within Parking Eye with advanced Alzheimers as they forget they are only the servants, not the owners.

Check ParkingEye's website and it will show 'cancelled' under your VRN next week.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If they don't cancel and it goes further you need to demand a full, unredacted copy of their contract with the hotel to see if the client has the absolute discretion to demand cancellation.

So you obviously screenshot that for the Manager who cancelled it...

When will hotels realise that a poor review on TripaAdvisor, Booking.com, Trivago et al can affect their bottom line.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
