G24 advice please.

Hi, I've read many threads on this site and I'm relieved that I'm not on my own here. G24 have sent me a letter demanding £100 for a 17 minutes stay in one of their car parks. I'm unaware if the car park has a free parking period or not. Please could someone advise as to if I can also ignore their correspondence. I find this charge highly inappropriate and also having done the maths, a £100 fine for 17 minutes works out at over £60000 a week. Please could someone advise on what action to take. Thanks

1. Ad the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #1, then send off the initial appeal template (the only one, in blue text).
2. G24 will reject it, then there's nothing further for you to do, including ignoring debt collector letters, unless you get a Letter of Claim or real court papers. Come back on this thread if you do. You will be famous as you'll be the first G24 court case - ever.
3. Complain to the landowner ask them to cancel the charge, then it's totally killed off.I find this charge highly inappropriate
Incidentally, why do you find the parking charge 'highly inappropriate'?Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Read the NEWBIE thread, which is to be found on the front page of the forum (third thread down) just under where you clicked the New Thread button. It looks like this: -

Go to the top of the list of threads and click on the "NEWBIES read this first" thread. It will tell you what to do in there.
Appeal using the blue template. If/when they reject, you appeal to POPLA, and can use the argument that they have not complied with BPAs code of practice with regards to grace periods (amongst other arguments).
Do not say who was driving!
Not that.
G24 are an IPC operator. The BPA and POPLA do not feature. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Oh really? On BPA webpage they are listed as a member- or at least "G24 Limited" is. Maybe I'm looking at something outdated0

It's the Approved/Accredited Operator Scheme (AOS) website that needs to be checked in the context of private parking charges:

Hi there,
I'm on slightly higher on step ladder.
I had a Parking Charge notice from G24 back in October 2018, it was at Argos car park in Milton Keynes, I passed the limit of minutes a customer could have, and to help Argos didn't have the item I wanted on stock. I did appeal, it was refused.
I ignored all the letters since, now received a nasty letter from Gladstone solicitors, requesting payment of £160 (which I don't have) and mentioning the option to commence proceedings at Civil Court.
Any advise is more than helpful/welcome, I'm inclined to give up and pay this charge with credit card....0 -
Everyone is asked to read up on this in the newbies FAQ thread near the top of the forum before posting
If after studying the FAQ you need any further assistance please start your own thread, and don't post any more in this thread0 -
And who do you think sent you that? Clue is the organisation it is instructing you to pay sent it to you. LOL, G24 don't do court, and as Umkomaas says, that's NOT from any solicitor.
G24 cases are almost always easy to cancel by speaking to the right retail manager.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
