Broadband switching

When I rang Plusnet to talk about renewal, their representative matched the PO basic broadband price for new customers to continue for an extra year. Although l don't get the £50 reward on offer as a new customer with the PO l decided to stay with Plusnet because l didn't want to risk the problems associated with the PO as expressed in the many critical comments about their poor service.
A friend, who remains with PO Broadband, says that she has only ever received a good service from them.0 -
Current ISP will surely come back with more better plans in the future.0

I've recently had the same experience with Plusnet - they don't seem interested at all in a working out a retention deal. I was offered Unlimited Fibre Extra for £31.99 a month over 12 months, but yet new customers can get the same package for £27.99 a month. I rang back on a different day and spoke to someone else who said he could match new customer pricing and process my order over the phone. I rang back yesterday to accept the new customer pricing match but another advisor I spoke to said that wouldn't be possible without disconnecting my service and placing a new order, which would involve downtime of 1-2 weeks. So tonight I placed an order with TalkTalk for £24 a month over 18 months. BT were really good with negotiating retention offers when I was with them previously but Plusnet don't seem interested at all. I can't see Plusnet's retentions department willing to negotiate a retention offer after they receive the notification of transfer from TalkTalk.0

I switched from SKY to Vodafone on the MSE deal for 16.45 a month for entry fibre. Sky were not interested in retaining me so I left.
Note that vodafone allowed me to switch more than 6-7 weeks in advance hence I can avoid cancellation charges and still get the deal before it expires on 4/7"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Some report here that Plusnet, along with other broadband providers, won't consider reducing their renewal price at contract end to retain customers - you would think they would make more by retaining them than see them go elsewhere.
But Plusnet did drop their price to retain me; once I told them about the competition (see above).
So they discriminate between customers. I wonder why that is?0 -
depends on the call handler, some can't be bothered"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

As above all depends upon the call handler with any ISP .
Phone later get a different handler and they may go the extra mile to retain you .0
