the bank will almost certainly not tell you why they paid out if they do
Banks only explain rejections. The reasons they uphold complaints, therefore, may (or may not) be for the complaint reason given by the complainant.
    Thanks for all the encouragement
All along the point has been that you have a weak complaint and you should have been looking for a more compelling reason. As you don't see this as "encouragement", you'll just have to hope the Bank uphold your complaint despite the reason you provided...
  • Just to give an update on my PPI complaint through RBS I have today received a response offering me just under £1500. Maybe my complaint wasn't so weak afterall!
Some on this thread made it sound like it would be a waste of time putting a complaint in with no proof I even had ppi on the loans however I suppose everyone's wrong sometimes 🙂
I would encourage anyone else in my position to put their claims in before the end of August before it's too late.
The worst they can say is No!
    Good luck

Maybe my complaint wasn't so weak after all!
It was. The trouble is that at one time, 50% of PPI complaints were [STRIKE]try-it-on scams[/STRIKE] made by complainants who never even had PPI. ~100% of these claimed they didn't know they had it, or were told they had to have it.

Some complainants used the two complaint reasons more or less in the same paragraph . . it's one or the other, can't be both :rotfl:

Previous posters were just advising it was / is one of the weakest complaint reasons going.

    Enjoy your refund :)
