Are there additional rights on glasses bought online due to distance selling regulations or is it exempt due to being a personalised product?0

Glasses with prescription lenses are a personalised product hence you can't return them. After all they are most likely unsellable to anyone else.0 -
I don't wear glasses but I imagine it's the same as buying anything else, you can (almost always) get it cheaper online.
But that doesn't always mean you should.
You don't get personalised help.
You don't get to try things out beforehand.
If something goes wrong it is trickier to sort out.
I've had glasses from a high street shop that were not a correct fit. The staff are often poorly informed about the product. The one I dealt with knew nothing about the lens options. True you can sometimes see the frames and lenses in the flesh, but not in the case of custom items such as Lindberg where you have a huge selection to choose from. And you do have the advantage that they can adjust them for you if you later find issues, but I'm not sure I'd trust the opticians I went to. Some online shops will send you a box of frames to choose from (selected from the larger online list), you send them back, and they send you the chosen frame with lenses added.0 -
I've considered these websites where I could get glasses for a fraction of the price on the high street. But I wear varifocals, so as mentioned above, how would that work online? My optician makes various marks on the lenses prior to having a them made up to my prescription. Also, when they come in, they are fitted and any adjustment to the arms behind my ears are made. How would that work online?0

Exactly this.
I'm happy to buy many things online but I think the personal fitting needed with complex prescriptions is important. Maybe if I only needed simple reading glasses online would be fine but not for my varifocals.Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20
