This is the last time I'm buying glasses from a high street optician.

I have struggled with blurred vision and it turns out that my glasses have the wrong prescription and the wrong optical center after a recent eye test and discussion. Vision express are offering to replace the lenses for free.

I wonder if the online stores offer to replace the lenses for free if I have the wrong prescription because of my eye test.

Unlikely, because they didn't provide the prescription, so why should they guarantee it? You would need to go back to the optician who provided the prescription, and they would correct the prescription, but be unlikely to guarantee glasses bought elsewhere.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Would they reimburse for lost costs?

Would the optician which got the wrong result in my eye test be able to reimburse me for the cost of replacing the lenses with that of the right prescription?

I don't wear glasses but I imagine it's the same as buying anything else, you can (almost always) get it cheaper online.
But that doesn't always mean you should.
    You don't get personalised help.
You don't get to try things out beforehand.
If something goes wrong it is trickier to sort out.
In what way is it trickier to sort things out?

You live and learn. I spent £200 on specs, a colleague had al kst the same for 1/3 the price. High Street opticians have huge overheads to pay.

Last time I paid £16 for two pairs, one reading one distance, from Glasses-direct.
The change in prescription did not really warrant new glasses but at that price it was worth it.

Comfort yourself that at least the expensive glasses have a flat guaranteed correct pupillary distance & that you have not spent however little on glasses that are optically wrong for you

PD, or pupillary distance, refers to the distance in millimeters between the center of one pupil to the center of the other. Having a correct PD on your glasses prescription insures that you are looking through the ideal spot in your lenses.

There are a bunch of ways around measuring this correctly but it is not (& legally does not have to be) on your prescription & it makes a terrifying difference to the effective functioning (especially varifocals).

May not help this time but next sight test, have to leave shortly after the sight test rather than after half an hour gawking at frames, have a go at PD & then get something at near disposable prices online, If after a fortnight they're fine & you're happy, upgrade the spec?

If it makes you feel better, I fell in love with Lindberg spirit titanium rimless glasses. You cannot buy these online, and even reglazing online is no cheaper than in the high street. The price of the frames alone is stupid. However, my previous glasses were rimless titanium and over four years later the frames look like new.

As for PD, it’s easy to measure though you might need help if your sight is very poor. I did it myself when I had my spare pair reglazed. The shop that sold me Lindbergs would not tell me, which is very petty minded. And according to several surveys, even if you go to the high street, don’t assume the prescription will be correct. Independent opticians are apparently much better for the eye test.

Is glasses direct the cheapest online store?

I don't know if the cheapest but there are others.
