Aldi fine for staying in their car park for longer than the 1.5hr limit. In fairness, the vehicle parked there due to going to shop after a personal appointment. This meant after shopping in Aldi the vehicle had stayed over two hours in total.

Naively as the vehicle stayed over their limit there is nothing can be done to avoid the penalty charge? Shopping was done as planned in Aldi after the appointment, paid cash and did not keep the receipt.
Guessing fine needs to be paid ?

Everyone is asked to read up on this in the newbies faq thread near the top of the forum before starting a new thread.

Go there now to get a full understanding of the game you are now caught up in (and learn how to deal with it)

If you then need help not available in the FAQ come back with any questions

Note it's not a fine. It's not from Aldi. Your guess is wrong

Throughout here you are advised never to reveal who was driving so before starting your research of the FAQ you need to edit your post to remove details of who was driving

In my naive view as I stayed over their limit I presume there is nothing I can do to avoid the penalty charge?

It is not a penalty, not is it a fine, it is a private invoice for the damage the PPC alleges they suffered when, allegedly, you breached a contract they allege you had agreed with them, we call them scams. They only need to be paid if a judge so directs,

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so complain to your MP.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

Concentrate on signage. IMO, PE signs leave much to be desired. I doubt that many judges would agree that they are capable of forming a contract, read this

FWIIW, my local Aldi, which is not a large one, has a two hour free parking allowance.

Did you send over £30 in aldi? Do you have a receipt? Either way the best option is to contact aldi to get this cancelled.
Post what you intend to say here first to avoid shooting yourself in the foot.

    You won't be PAYING ParkingEye!
paid cash and did not keep the receipt.
But the PCN gives you the date and time, so you can take that to the Store Manager and ask for a receipt reprint, by telling him/her which till you used. Stay there until they give you that reprint, which is easier for them to find if you can recall some items you bought, to help them find the receipt.

Next time if you go over time in a Supermarket, use a carrier bag to cover your rear numberplate as your drive out (I am not joking). You do NOT have to hand over your data on a plate to a scumbag third party spy camera as you leave.

If everyone did this, the scum ANPR parking firms would be dead in 6 months.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Brilliant, Wish I'd thought of that.

Then you can come back later, prove you have been somewhere else, you get double dipped & then sue for compo under Data Protection
Private Parking Tickets - Make sure you put your Subject Access Request in after 25th May 2018 - It's free & ask for everything, don't forget the DVLA :D

Wait for confirmation from PE, which may or may not come. (Didn't in my case). Best way is to periodically check the PE portal to see how much is owed ... when it's cancelled it goes to £0.00 owed. :)

Back again! Parking eye still showing as owing £40. Aldi contacted and they say it can take 28 days for the cancellation to show. Waiting 28 days would take this over parking eyes 28 days. Aldi have checked and will try to get Parking Eye to push cancellation through (I still have the reference number Aldi gave for the cancellation)
Little concerned should cancellation not show before that clock runs out!

    Advice appreciated.
