Fuming with EON
Comments
-
They are readings I have taken and provided to EON.
I'm not sure the price I pay, I can't seem to find that anywhere.0 -
So 97875 less 93179 = 4686. Assume night time and at about 12p = ££560
and 52002 less 50891 = 1111. Assume day time and at about 18p = ££200
Allowing for standing charge at 25p = £67
all plus VAT at 5% = £870 (approx £100 a month)
My questions - have you been paying a monthly DD and have you any debt ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
What tariff are you on? (E7 or single rate)
Which of those readings is the night rate and the day rate?
Generally, you build up the bulk of your annual bill over the winter months. In the winter you build up debt. In the summer you build up credit. Over 12 months you average out. You dont appear to have any summer months yet to average out and are just looking at the winter months. In isolation, it will appear higher.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). They should be on your paper bill or your online account.
EON are advising you to contact step change because they will help you.The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -
Two readings seem to indicate that one is daytime and the other night-time (Economy 7?). Could these readings have been switched around? This happened to me a few years back and I got a big bill before they realised.
Get EON back in to test the meter and look at your appliances. They can usually estimate how much electricity your flat would use, and if it's really high, ask them why and how. Maybe your supply is connected to all the flats in your block, and you're paying the bill for everyone's leccy?
Too many variables to pin this down to one cause, suggest you get Citizens' Advice and your local councillor involved. Don't withhold payment, that gets them annoyed and less likely to reason with you over the bill. Pay them what you think is reasonable and do the other things I've suggested above, before you will consider the full bill.:)0 -
I think there's more going on here than the OP has told us.
I find it odd that all was OK until January but only 4 months letter we are talking about the E.on Energy Fund and Stepchange. Perhaps a previous debt ?
PS snilloct1957 - even if every unit was charged at day rate the bill for the 9 months would be about £1200 or £130 a month.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
There's nothing else going on here. EON hit me with a sudden massive bill. I disputed it and refused to pay and I decided to apply for the grant just to clear it considering I want going to pay for usage I don't think I've used.
Its strange how things were fine until the end of march when I got a bill for £550 for January to March usage and now its gone up another £200 in two months from March to May.
Obviously because I've been in dispute with them since March.
The ombudsman and my local MP are my next intentions to contact regarding this.0 -
I didn't mean to offend - just trying to understand. Some more detail please - the monthly readings for Jan, Feb, March, April, May please - are these your readings or Smart ? . And the unit rates as on your bill.
As per the bill you had in January - were you in Credit or Debit ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Why would you apply for a grant to pay a bill you apparently don't owe?0
-
How else will it be paid off? I certainly won't be paying anything until its rectified. I won't be paying for electric I don't believe I've used.
I think I have probably used around £200-£250 over the last few months.
However now that they're saying I owe £760, I can't afford to pay it and given I dispute it I won't be paying the bill.
As advised today by peppe not on here, I'm taking it to the ombudsman to investigate.
Thanks for all the replies and help anyway.0
