I see this has returned today.
I have had a first direct account in the past 3 years although it's now closed would the link between HSBC and FD stop my switch bonus?
Also I take it I just open up the account and then go through the CASS after or do I start the CASS in my initial application ?
Thank you.

From the T’s and C’s:
You may hold a first direct and/or M&S Bank current account and still qualify.
And
Simply apply for a new HSBC Advance Account then within 30 days use the Current Account Switch Service to complete a full switch with at least 2 Direct Debits or Standing Orders.

Was going to switch to m&s once Tesco drops 1%
Think i'll go with this instead0 -

Be aware that HSBC have form for not accepting people for their premium accounts - and I think the 175 switch offer is only for their Advance account?
M&S on the other hand seem rather less fussy.
So HSBC might seem the more attractive offer, but the M&S might be more likely to succeed.0 -

Yeah i know its the advanced account. I suspect with the £1750 a month funding requirement, i'd imagine they would reject you if you're not earning at least £28k to meet that. Arent First Direct also a bit fussy & they accepted me. Its worth a shot anyway.0 -
HSBC are alternately offering £75 to switch to this Bank Account.

It's worth a shot applying, particularly if you don't have any upcoming credit applications. That said, as above HSBC are known for being a bit picky with who they accept and are known to turn down applications earning less than £1750/month. If rejected, they'll likely offer you their standard account which has a lower switch incentive.
Also as per Gary's post, M&S Bank/FD customers can apply for the HSBC offer. The switch needs to be started within 30 days of opening the account - this can be during the application process, or at a later date after the account has been opened0 -
Im keen to also get the 5% reg saver which is only available with the advanced account. So worst case is they reject me offer the basic one. Get my £75, then switch that to M&S (who also to the 5%RS).0

Although M&S may use the same criteria being as their part of the HSBC group so you’re not guaranteed an account with them either0 -
I have spent the last 2 months switching to HSBC. What a disaster. What an utterly disorganised bank. Information has come in over the last 2 months in dribs and drabs. They now have my money but I can't access it. When I phone for HELP no one can (or will) help because they can't get me through security. Why ? Seemingly because they have my date of birth recorded incorrectly
What an absolute shambles. Unsurprisingly if I had known I would never have made the switch. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.0 -
