  • Morning all,

Hope everyone is doing well with their challenege. We did a shop this weekend at £22.66 which brings our total to:

    £58.63 // £200 so we have £141.37 left.

Really happy with that, no idea how I am managing to keep it so low, I think maybe because I'm being more aware with plastic and trying to cut down that this is cutting down my options on stuff to buy. I'm also trying not to buy crap, i.e biscuits ect just because I could do with losing a few pounds (read A LOT!) so I think it's for the best. We only have two shops left to for this month so we might actually have money left over which can go into our savings. This makes me realllly happy!!! Fingers crossed!
  • Have made a few spends since the 1st, need to tally up and put on here!
Think we are doing better so far this month. :)

Hi guys, jumping in late , as i had to dip out due to a house move.

It was a bit of a nightmare, but we are settled now. I have had to look for work though, so meal planning and unpacking completely has gone out of the window; as there has been no time.

Good news is i found a job and started yesterday. Also, DD2 finishes her exams Friday so will finally be joining us :T .

I did a dummy run of the food bill last month, as there were me, DD1 and GD for the first six weeks or so. we spent £270.73, this also included restocking the fridge and freezer; but most cupboard stuff i still had.

So, with a view to not having to do a full restock; but having to sort things for three big people and a small one; plus hectic shifts (so meal plans may be askew) and not much access to reductions anymore from workplace . I am going to try for £280. Just when i had managed to get it to a nice stable amount of £200 too:rotfl:

Sorry for the waffle. Nice to be back ;)

21.06 split between Lidl and Aldi. Mostly on fruit and veg, as I'm currently dieting, and after healthier alternatives now that I'm off the biscuits and crisps!

Doing a much better job this month. My shopping was for the things needed to do Week 1 of Thrifty Lesley's Meal Plan.

I excluded milk for soya milk, eggs for home made tofu and bacon just left out altogether as the vegan bacon in supermarkets is expensive and don't have any wheat gluten flour to make my own.

I'm intermittent fasting right now so missing out on about 5-6 meals a week.

Congratulations on the new job, K9sandFelines! Also on getting moved & surviving to tell the tale... whilst part of me is hoping we'll move within the next couple of years (after 27 years in one place) part of me is also dreading it!

A cheeky £23 spent today on things we really didn't need in any sense of the word - that included a lottery ticket! - because I couldn't resist a book I came across in my quest to master sourdough baking (this book, The Book of Buns, gives recipe details for all kinds of yeast) as I'm not all that fond of sponges & sweet cakes. My two DDs, who still live with us, are both very excellent bakers of cakes, creating delightful sponges & cupcakes that almost float, but I'm generally happier with fruitcakes & savoury things. Couldn't resist baking some Norwegian "Skillingsboller" today, but didn't have any cardamom in, and needless to say I spotted a number of bits n'bobs that would enable further bakes, as well as replenishing stocks of milk & bananas.

Note to self: will have to rein in a bit for the rest of the month...

£19.44 in Tesco on chicken for the dog and 3 jars of my coffee while on a very good offer.
My crockpot express, electric pressure cooker, started throwing error codes and I saw part of the control panel had warped over the weekend, on line to Amazon customer service I bought it last July, the operative asked for a picture which I sent, he then informed me Amazon no longer stock the item and to return for a full refund, postage label sent by email, I was VERY impressed, but left wondering if there was a fault in them as no longer available.
Do I need it or just want it.

£6.00 ish spent last night. DD1 went to Aldi whilst i was in work.

We now have a smallish Aldi and Asda nearby, a bigger Morrisons (which i haven't been to yet) and i have walked to a big Tesco 2.6 miles away (that was a trek). I haven't done any online shops since i have been here. I am not sure if that's a bad thing or a good thing :undecided

Up to £105/£190, DH forgot lunch and bought some fruit and other bits, so made sure to have lunches sorted for him for the rest of the week. Got a meal plan for the rest of the month and so far only got £28 worth of things for the next click and collect on friday so hoping we'll come just under budget this month.
  • Grr lost a post..
£95.55 so far.. ok with this :)
Have to take a look at my budgets (as a whole) as income will be changing soon & not necessarily for the better. We shall see! (Fingers crossed its not too bad) ;)
