can you put clingfilm in the oven?

The cling film is affected by heat and either melts or hardens, or some just stay soft. The spud is just used to cook 'something' warpped in clingfilm.
It's used to cook things and retain their shape for later cutting and serving, or to make an air and water tight seal. You'll see Tom Kerridge use it a lot with cheaper cuts of meat that he has formed into a sausage shape that can be cooked then cut into rings. You do the same with water baths as well – sous vide cooking.0
