  • Morning all :) oops no its afternoon, sorry!

I'm am sooooooooo tired! I've never been this tired in my life apart from during the worst flare-ups of my FM. I mean, Jellybean is tiny, how can it be making me feel so urrgh?! Also i haven't eaten anything hot since Tues apart from fish and chips on Thurs night, i'm living on sandwiches and cereal because the smell of anything cooked makes me feel sick _pale_

We've got to go to OH's cousin's later to take her DD a birthday pressie but hopefully wont be there too long. I've bathed DD and washed her hair this morning so i dont have to bother tonight and OH is apparantly supposed to be helping with the housework but he's laid in bed reading. Lol, hes going to have the shock of his life when we've got a screaming baby :D

    Have a good day all

    Good afternoon everybody :hello:

I am in a reflective mood today, thinking about all the things that were going on this time last year. This morning at church my grandma was mentioned in the prayers, as she died a year ago this week (by sheer coincidence we also happened to sing the hymn I picked out for her funeral, which was nice and brought back some memories). That'll be a year on Wednesday. Then on Friday it's a year since I moved into this place - where has the time gone?

Talking of moving, my mum has moved house this week (she relocated earlier in the year, however at the time she needed somewhere cheap and urgently, so she and her 3 pets had been living in a tiny house that was smaller than my 1-bed flat. She's now found a 2-bed house which is near work and would take her with the pets, so she moved there on Thursday. The best bit is it means I can have Christmas dinner with her this year :j :j :j I haven't had Christmas with any of my family for so many years, as Mum and my bro and sis were always 300 miles away and I was tied to London by my church choir. This year my bro and sis are both spending Christmas with their partners, and it will be lovely to have Christmas dinner with mum and the dog and cats :) It will take a bit of logistical organisation as I still need to be in London until lunchtime on Christmas Day, and I don't drive and there won't be any transport, so Mum will have to drive in from Reading to pick me up... but I am really really looking forward to it.

I have been out every night this week except Wednesday (when I made a massive batch of Thai green chicken curry for the freezer) and am out every night next week except Friday. So today I need to do another big batch of something to keep myself fed with some degree of variety for the next few lunches and dinners.

Yesterday I dropped in briefly on the MSE Property Board meet and met 3 of the regulars (most had left by the time I got there :o) I was specially pleased to meet Lynzpower who I've wanted to meet for ages.

I hope most of you are well, there are a lot of bugs going round at the moment. Our church choir was down to 3 this morning :o and I spent half the week praying for an opera singer of my acquaintance to get over her stomach bug in time to be well enough to sing in the thing I was going to see on Friday night. She did :j

I've got to pop out with the wally trolley to take my recycling down to the local bins, and pick up a few items from the supermarket, so better be off to do that before it gets dark.

    Love Rzl xx

  • Afternoon All

Ellie - thanks for the offer but am just sitting here enjoying my clean (at the mo) house & defrosting after getting freezing cold at football. Must admit though I would rather clean someone elses house than my own.

Whatatwit - I love that joint of Pork - havnt had it for ages though - loads of crackling.

Must go now and out the veg on for tea.
  • Hi All
I did wonder about the lodger being a 'working girl' but don't think it's likely as she never brings anyone home (thank heavens).
She managed to pay the rest of her rent by yesterday morning, so it's taken her 2 weeks to catch up from the half term when she didn't get paid, I can see Christmas being a problem as she doesn't get paid for 2 weeks & she's not arranged to go away as yet, though she is trying to.
I don't worry much about what she eats as she doesn't eat with us & the rent is supposed to include breakfast & evening meal, so although she helps her self I think I'm still ahead financially.
One of the reasons I put up with her is because she works at the same school I work at & if I throw her out we'd lose an IT teacher, which we can't afford to do. She cannot afford to rent a bedsit round here & she came here expecting to share a flat with friends, but the agency didn't warn her that she wouldn't be able to commute from Croydon to Reading.
So I feel she has been badly treated by the agency & while I know that isn't my responsibility it means I do have some sympathy with her.

Never let success go to your head, never let failure go to your heart.

    Hi Hun

Just wanted you to have a big hug and wondered if you had a recipe for the Green Thai Curry?

Hi everyone, thought I'd pop on. It's dark already - I'm not used to these UK winters, after my years in New Zealand, so it's quite a shock to the system.

We've had a stay-at-home day, though I've been busy. I did some cleaning this morning, am getting used to dealing with a four storey house with two bathrooms plus an extra toilet. Because of the children, we can't leave cleaning things in the toilets, so I have it all in a bucket and carry it with me. I put some shelf units up for toys yesterday and DH did the new tv thingie today. It isn't quite right but it looks alright as long as you don't investigate too closely. It'll have to do. I've also emptied four more boxes in the garage, so we are gradually getting there.

We had some yummy thai pumpkin soup for lunch (butternut pumpkin and onion, cooked in a mix of stock and coconut milk, flavoured with thai red curry paste). Then a bit later we had my banana and peanut butter muffins. I've made a batch of watercress, leek & potato soup for tomorrow's tea - we are having soup as a first course, so that we get more veges in and to fill us up and keep the meat costs down. And I have learned a new trick from you OS experts: I chose what to make today by looking at what food wasn't going to last much longer. If I hadn't done the muffins or soup, the bananas and watercress would have been chucked. I spend a lot on food, and have often wasted it, so I'm feeling good about that (the soup tastes great too).
