I got something like this in 2014/5. Received one letter a few weeks after and nothing since. Haven’t been to Italy since though so no idea if they have a record at immigration.0

Hi, was this a letter from CLI?0

Remember reading that UK debt collectors were buying up parking fines for a pittance from foreign countries who in all likelihood expect to get nothing so are happy to get 10p in £. The debt collectors add all of there 'costs' so £40 fine ends up costing £400. Enough people pay enough to make it a profitable venture. Oddly enough the example I read was from Italy!1

I bet most of the people complaining about how horribly unfair it is that another European country can pursue traffic penalties here would also complain about how foreign-plated cars are unfairly allowed a free pass in the UK...0

What's your point?
it's UK debt collectors proactively going after UK motorists. Foreign debt collectors are also allowed to collect UK parking fines if they do or don't is up to them.0 -
Hi
Just wondered how this progressed in the last few weeks as I have just received a 1st letter from CLI? Thanks0 -
Hi Rippoffines.
I was advised by a Solicitor to respond back but do not admit it which I did and they received my letter on the 6th Jan. I asked for evidence to which they have sent me (received around 11th Jan) the initial letter from the Police and the subsequent one which followed because I ignored the initial one. They also sent me so just a photo of my apparent reg number and what I did in Italian. This was accompanied by a letter which was a bit sarcastic but again told me to get in touch within 7 days.
I totally ignored it and then last week on Thursday (23rd) they have now said if I don’t pay within 7 days they will send their doorstep collections agents..
