Home Insurance Company Attempting to Swindle Me

Hi,
I obtained one year’s house insurance from Admiral last year and when it was up for renewal we shopped around and get a better deal. Admiral without my authorisation attempted to take money for the renewal but it was refused by my bank. They have now sent me a bill for £47 for not being able to get the renewal. This is the third time in the last 2 months that a similar situation to this has happened! It appears to me that companies are trying to fraudulently get money from me. The other two I informed I owned them nothing and they dropped the claim. As anyone else had this happening to them? And if so how did you deal with it?
Thanks.

Did you tell them you were cancelling/ending the policy?0

It was only a one year policy, so it ended.0

If I have Auto renewal policies, I lapse them in time and ask for something in writing/email.
As a minimum I take a name and time and date.
I have never had an issue.

No it did not. And if you think that it might be the cause of your other problems.
You have to tell them you do not require further insurance or it will auto renew as per the conditions you obviously did nor read at the time. The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -

Did you read all the paperwork they sent with their price they probably advised in there that you would have to contact them if you did not want to go ahead as per most insurers nowFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
In my experience, you get the renewal notice which will say your policy is going to be xyz from the renewal date and "if you do nothing, the policy will be automatically renewed".
You must advise them that you are cancelling.
It is probably in the T&C's somewhere0 -
I'll take a look but don't think that was the case.0

It's often some tiny tick box somewhere, ticked by default, very easy to miss.
I'd start a formal complaint with them over it. They will be less inclined to fight for £47 if it is going to cost them.0 -
Your wrong, it was not auto renew "obviously"!
I may be wrong, but your posts concur it obviously was.
In future read the t&c and the renewal letter.
Then call and inform them you do not wish to renew. The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0
