I'm looking for a new printer too. Don't know where to start. I'd like wireless & a card reader. Other than that, running costs are obviously important. Any recommendations? Is it worth spending a bit more than the necessary £50 or so?0

1. Specific Printer Needs - Photos or Documents ?
First, consider your specific needs. Ask yourself what you need a printer for. What will you be printing on the printer?
This is the most important question you have to ask yourself. Determine whether you will be printing photos or mostly documents. Also, think about this question on a long-term basis. Don’t just think about your currently planned uses for the printer. Think about what might come up in the future.
2. High Speed Printing Or Bargain Slower Printer
Do you want a high-speed printer or speed isn’t really important? High-speed printers may be a bit more expensive, so settling for a slower printer can help you save on your purchase. You also have to consider the mix of features included in the printer package. You should look for the printer with the most number of features that you appreciate.
3. Multifunction Printers ?
Also, since there are desktop printers and all-in-ones, ask yourself whether you also need a scanner, a copier, and a fax machine. There are also multi-functions with just a scanner and a copier if you don’t need a fax machine.
4. Printer Budget
Finally, consider your budget. This is a big part in any purchase. Printers nowadays come in extensive price ranges. Most websites that offer guides for buying printers often offer helpful lists of the best printers broken down according to their prices. Here are some recommended printers based on your needs.
Overall: Go for HP brands, like HP 150 -
The cartridge type is important, the main manufacturers now have more than one type. A system that has individual colours is best as long as you can buy reliable compatibles. A great site for simple advice is - buywhichprinter.co.uk0

I would say stay away from epson I have a dx8400, I replaced 4 ink cartridges about 2 months ago. It is telling me three of them are empty, even though they are three quarters full or more. I have cleaned them followed all the advise that a LOT of people give online about the same problem, the call centre apparently advises to buy a new printer so there you go. Oh and I am typeing this with heavily inkstained fingers and a printer rage going on!0

I am currently searching for a printer,I do not require the printer to be fast printing, neither use it for intensive printing. But I do require the printer to produce high quality photos. My budget is about S$200.Please list down some of the specification I should look out for or recommend some models. Thanks!
Additional questions:
-Should I choose inkjet or toner?
-Can printer work with cardboard?(Any high quality ones if yes)
-Which paper and ink would produce a higher quality?0 -
An Inkjet will likely produce better photos, provided it uses six or more inks. Epson have started making printers which use paper trays, the paper is loaded face down and turned over by the printer, this may prohibit the use of thick card.
I would e-mail manufacturers and ask them about thick card etc.
As to which paper and ink, most manufacturers will say theirs0
