Personally I would stay clear from epson printers. Ive had two and both have required lenghty cleaning of the ink lines! I cant suggest what to buy (as I too need a new one) but I can certainly say i will not be anything with epson on it anytime soon!!0

You can buy any make printer to go with an make computer (not sure about Apples though) - you just have to make sure it will work on your Operating System. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Completely agree. Inkjets "clean" their heads whenever you switch them on which uses up your ink even without printing and if you don't often use them the head will clog up. Lasers however have expensive major items in them such as imaging drums, toner cartridges, transfer belts but they last a lot longer than your liquid ink carts plus of course your prints come out dry. If looking at a laser printer ask yourself if you are prepared to pay almost twice it's inital cost to replace these items (or much less green, just buy a new one) when they are life expired.Jane_Blackford wrote: »Have you looked at laser? You can get lasers for ao reasonable price these days. OK, the toner is not that cheap, but it does not suffer from not being used for a while - we had an inkjet that we did not use for a month and we could not get it to print properly cos the cartridges had dried up near the head!:eek:0 -
My Epson Pixma D120 has two flshing amber lights indicating that it will no longer print due to having a saturated waste ink pad. It is only a year old and now requires to receive professional attention! The advice on the web is to throw it away as there doesn't weem to be a way of resetting the counter ourselves. This is something that Epson don't tell you about.
I am now left with unused cartridges and I am not sure what to buy as a replacement. Any ideas?
if you buy an epson model sx or dx they take the same cartridges as the d120

Lexmark & HP printers have the printhead within the ink cartridge whereas the Epson an Canonyou can fit any printer to your pc the dell printers are made by lexmark so are expensive to run.

do not. Therefore with the Lexy/HP your print quality should not degrade. Also Epson & Canon have "ink absorbers" (felt pads) which the machine WILL say after a period of time need to be replaced. You can find the method to reset this counter online but I'd not recommend it as the ink will eventually overflow from these pads. :eek:0 -

or you could fit a waste pipe that goes to a bottle then the pad never gets full of ink.
