That policy can be found here

Why not just ask if they can accept some of the other documents on that list?

This isn't a new thing btw. Its been happening for years due to money laundering laws.

It seems I maybe be able to send a copy of my old passport, which I have now sent but I was never told this and it does not say this on the communication they sent to me.

    This is what it said.
    Acceptable proof of ID:
A valid photocard driving license (front only)
A valid passport (photo page only)
Your valid ID card (front and back)

    Acceptable proof of address:
Bank / Savings account Statement (issued in the last 3 months)
Utility bill – i.e. water, gas, electric (issued in the last 3 months)
Council Tax bill (issued in the last 12 months)
MRC tax notification (issued in the last 12 months)
Tenancy Agreement (issued in the last 12 months)
    Mortgage or home loan statement
A valid photocard driving license with matching address

Got bored after the first part of text.

I'm not sure what you are actually wanting? You talk about a hypothetical closing of the account, but presumably the funds are still there for you to "use" in betting?

I can kind of see how you would expect them to confirm all this before setting up the account. I had a similar thing with Sky Bet when I hadn't used it for a while (I rarely gamble) and tried to place a bet and they wanted all sorts of documents. In the end I gave up and told them to close the account (but there was no money in it).

But if they are asking for ID AND you want to close the account then you know what you need to do. An ID will come in handy for lots of things. They aren't "stealing" your money really are they? If you provide suitable ID and they are happy, they'll pay you, yes?

Get a provisional driving license. Costs you £34, easy to do online. Job done

Still costs £34. And you need a passport for one so back to square one.

Ask them if an expired passport is OK. SFAIK they will be accepted as sufficient proof of ID by many organisations.

Yes they are, they are taking money that is not yours.

They are using the identity thing to steal people's money just like the criminals they are.

Ladbrokes were found guilty of rigging the starting prices of horses in the past. Ie if last bet they took were at 12-1 and that horse won they would say it was 10-1.
I know cos I witnessed it and the betting shop manager commented he had noticed too. They were found guilty you might be able to find it if you google it, however I expect they have has it removed under "the right to be forgotten".

They are crooks though, they never tell people this important info when you sign up, and I deposited from a bank account which pretty much proves I am 18 especially since I must have had the account for nearly 18 years!

What I am talking about if information I should know, if I had known I would have such trouble I WOULD NEVER HAVE OPENED AND ACCOUNT WITH THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE.

HENCE I WOULD LIKE TO WARN OTHERS OF BEING ROBBED BY LADBROKES.

How can they keep the money anyway?

It clearly is not their money is it.

I bet if they could not keep the money they would not try this crap.

I expect they rely on people not enquiring about what happens to the money they steal.

That will be my next "chat".
Hello, I am enquiring about what happens to the money you steal from your customers. Could you give me a few details?

Your so called found guilty never ever happened .
The SP is not a Ladbrokes product but produced by an independant source on course .

You are beginning to come across as slightly unhinged. They can keep the money unless you prove who you say you are. Anti money laundering provisions allow them to do so so no amount of threatening to run to Martin Lewis and tell tales is going to work.

Yes I did read that tucked away in a difference section of their site, provided you send birth cert too.

It is tucked away in a different page, actually on that page it also say

New legislation is coming from the UK gambling regulator which will help protect players and regulate businesses within the online gaming sector. Because of this, you'll need to verify your account details. Without verification, you will no longer be able to play or deposit.

Note it does not say you won't be able to withdraw.

I guess the big deal is more folks do not have any money in their accounts. I have not deposited for about 10 years :rotfl:

They don't like winner there do they?

I backed Trump for pres at 16-1 - LOVELYJUBBLY!!! :rotfl:

I don't usually bet big amounts, biggest was £100 at 4-1 which won :)

What is not right. Firstly I am not laundering anything, and even if I was why should they keep it? It is not their money.

I opened an online account 15 years ago and I had to provide proof of who I was then. This is nothing new.
