Having mini dilemma about job interview here, aaarghDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
whats up hon?
Well, I was just going to take a day/ half day's holiday for it - did that for the last one, for various reasons would rather not say at work that I'm going for an interview. But I've not had a chance to put in for the leave yet and in the meantime they've scheduled a training thing for that morning which I have to go to. So if I'm gonna go to it, I'll have to tell them. Other thing is that it's only a fixed term contract until the middle of next year, and I'm not sure it's worth all the upheaval and the stress of knowing I'll have to look for something else. Sooo.. can't decide whether to face all the hassle at work for a job that I'm not totally sure about. If it was something that I really knew 100% that I wanted then I wouldn't mind sorting it out with work... and if it wasn't going to be a hassle I'd go for the interview despite being unsure... and I need to confirm (or not) attending the interview by the end of tomorrow... blahAny advice?

ok, so, any chance that fixed term will turn into permanent?
Why are you hesitant about the job? trust your gut instinct.
what will happen at work if they discover the fact you are off for an interview?
but most of all, what feels RIGHT to do?

To be honest I think I'm being a bit of a chicken about work, I know some people would be funny with me and my manager would be massively stressed.. the real issue is that I'm hesistant because of the fixed term thing (it's a project with a set timescale and limited funding so it would definitely be fixed term - a similar job could come up afterwards but there's no guarantee of that, or of getting it if it does!).. it is in the line of work I want to do but I don't think that it's "good" enough for me to deal with that stress as well. Am just a bit worried that my gut instinct is being clouded by the 'fear of change' instinct!!
Sorry for hijacking your thread... but ta for helping me think it outxx

please don't ever think you are hijacking as your not, and beside i was rambling about food anyway.
If you aren't confident that the job will last further or if your doubts of getting another job at the end remain high then don't do it.
Our mantra here is never turn unsecured into secured, but i'd say with employment it would be the other way round!
there will be plenty out there for you, don't grab it and wish you hadn't. think about it long and hard and whatever conclusion you come to will be the right one.debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0 -
Hi folks, hi redsquirrel - I think Pania's hit the nail on the head with the reversal of the secured/unsecured for the job market, thats a great analogy, Pania. Still, you *will* do what's best for you all round, I'm sure.
And.... as far as the great chocolate debate is concerned, my vote is that in hot weather the choccie won't melt onto the plastic....2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
