  • Hi Pania,

I went to the Maldives for my honeymoon 8.5 years ago, it was the best 2 weeks of my life, no phone, newspapers, tv etc, just chilling on the beach.

The transfer from the airport to the island was fabulous - speedboat - wakes you up a treat after a 14 hour night flight on top of 36 hours no sleep!

DH will always remember where he was and what he was doing when Man U did the treble!!

I did some snorkelling and it was like being in an aquarium!

The only thing that bothered me were the mosquitoes but they love me anyway - Tiger Balm was the only thing that cured them!

    Good luck on your challenge.

No challenges for me for a while I go back to work (full-time) in January after 9 months off and want to spend as much time as poss with DD.

it is stunning hon. I too did franz joseph, and the Huka jet at Taupo, and swam with the dolphins in Paihia (not pahia! he he) (where I met my best friend). We spent only a week travelling around the south island, but made it to mount cook, wanaka, Haast pass, franz joseph, greymouth (never again!) and then back across to christchurch.
We then got the train up to Picton and the ferry across to wellington.
We then went from Wellington up to Napier (not my bag really) mt maunganui, across to waitomo, up to auckland then bay of islands.
Mum came home after 3 weeks and I had 3 wonderful weeks out there in bay of islands on my own, diving, swimming with the dolphins and generally having a blast. I was in the police at the time and went out on patrol with NZ police in auckland for 3 night duties, even got to go up in their police helicopter, eagle, over auckland harbour at night.
I lost an awful lot of money on that holiday! and my heart to, memories like that never ever fade and I am so glad that you loved it to Taka.

There are places that I would love to travel to, Kenya, canadian rockies, norwegian fjords and the maldives,

Squirrel you must defo put it on your list of places to go to hon. You will be so glad you did.

I know what you mean... think I might look out some of my pickies as they should make me smile! Yep it was a costly trip for me too... I was in Oz for much longer than two months too. One day..... :rotfl:

    London in March! I'm in!!

New Zealand.... the travelogue that is Lord of the Rings. Yes, that has to go on the list. Egypt.... the Canadian Rockies (and a certain tv actor comes from Kamloops, y'know).... more of Greece.... Morrocco.... Iceland.... Russia... and Barcelona, it isn't the sun, sand etc that appeals, pania, its the tapas bars, the theatre; the Spanish lifestyle, not the expat one - I can't sunbathe (too much skin cancer in the family) or drink much (overdid it in my 20s!). It would be my winter place, not my summer one - if I'm rich enough to have two, my summer place will have to be northern Scotland, the way things have been going!

Talk about dreaming. But I've been looking at motorhomes on the web - British ones with fridge, shower and loo are going for 15 grand, if I'm renting out my house, thats pretty achievable. Ooh, I think I may have a plan. A do-able plan!

Okay, back to reality: London in March, yes please.

i can probably do London in March, OH currently lives there *sob* but i really hope by then he's here full time.
  • If we are going to do London in March I don't mind setting up a threat and co-ordinating it all. Is there a preference yet amongs those that have already expressed an interest on which date? Sat or Sun, beginning or end of month?
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time

I'm hoping (planning) on going to Birmingham in January but I'd love to meet up in London in March. The longhaulers thread were talking a while ago about having a meeting but I haven't heard that much about it since!

I've just realised what's wrong with March 2008 - I'll be in Spain but I'll keep my eyes peeled for a March London meeting in case I'm back then!

If I had a brain cell, it'd be lonely!
