Is it acceptable for the in-store cancellation T&Cs to be on the reverse of "your order form"? Isn't that a bit late?

Has the OP said what is on the reverse of the form? (Apologies if they have).

Is it not a case that the order form is completed, handed to the user for checking and signature? At that point customer should read T&C before signing.

Spoke to a nice manager at the store. He said if we the order hasn't been processed it shouldn't be a problem to refund. The lady who visited my home and dealing my with my issue is the boss of the banch and she can only make a decision. She's off today and I'll be seeing her tomorrow to ask for a refund. She already told me she'll stop the order till next Tuesday but she told us we have to buy a sofa from them. Will have to wait till tomorrow and see.
Morals and values should come first before terms & conditions at least in a case like mine where I reported the problem in less than an hour after purchasing.

Fingers crossed that you get an outcome you're happy with.

As to your last sentence? Yes, it would be good customer service in the circumstances, but I think the lesson we can all learn from situations like this is that we have a moral duty to read and value the terms and conditions before parting with money.

I had this problem a few years back. We went into SCS to look at a new sofa over Christmas holiday (I think it was NYE or the day before NYE if I remember rightly). We ordered it based on my 1760mm length measurement. As I walked out of the store I suddenly realised the space I had to play with was 1670mm not 1760mm!

I went back into the store - bearing in mind this was less than five minutes later and told them my error and could I cancel and look for something else. The guy said "no, sorry - it's too late, they've already started making it!"

I replied "look mate, the paperwork is still in the tray THERE next to you. It's a Sunday, tomorrow is New Year's Eve. I doubt very much anyone is going to do anything with that order for a few days at least"

He argued that I'd have to wait until it was delivered and refuse it but eventually after I spoke to the store manager they relented and cancelled it!

My missus was fuming (with me - for getting the size wrong) and abandoned me at the store!!

    Can laugh about it now!

    Hi all
I'd like to thank all the posters here. I received a full refund on Friday 17.05.2019. I've sent two emails to the ceo including a goodwill email. Didn't get any reply but got a call from the store manager and asked us to see her at the store for a refund. Stress free now. Thank you all.
  • I ordered a sofa from SCS in store back in October. I agreed to pay monthly to a finance company called Ikano over 3 years. I had to wait until the Saturday before last for delivery as they said it wasn't in stock. However I have now realised this sofa is incredibly uncomfortable and I do not want it. SCS said there's nothing they can do, they won't exchange it, basically it's tough. Do I have any rights at all as there's no way I can have this horrible thing for the next few years.
