Car Hire Excess Insurance

I am about to travel to Ireland for a few days and the car hires prices are very confusing. For a VW polo type car this is what is on offer for 3 days = Euro 75

Included in the rates
Total Sales Tax
Location Service Charge (LSC)

Not included in the rates*
Collision Damage Waiver (Excess Applies)
Super Cover (Excess Waiver)*
Personal Insurance*
Theft Protection (Excess Applies)
Additional Driver Fee
Fuel

I have looked around and I can buy car hire excess insurance for a fraction of the cost. So my question is do I still need to take the CDW insurance and then insure myself against the massive excesses thus avoiding the need for their super cover?

I know I will get a hard sell in the airport if I refuse their supercover so I want to be sure.

Seems CDW/TP isn't included at all from above, it is a business rental? They usually include CDW for private rentals. I think some of the excess insurers do full CDW/TP, you'll have to check, or maybe the car hire company CDW/TP is reasonable and you buy that off them and the excess elsewhere?

Just purchase a policy that contains both CDW and Super CDW and make sure that the Driver has a valid CC in order for them to block the deposit(at least 1000 euros)
    There are three suppliers;
https://www.bettersafe.com/car-hire-excess-insurance Daily Worldwide (inc. CDW & SLI)
https://www.carhireexcess.com/ Again, you'll need to purchase their Worldwide policy
    https://www.insurance4carhire.com/usa-canada-car-hire-excess-insurance Only Annual

You are looking at up to £5 per day for the full cover.

Why will OP need worldwide for Ireland?

OP, it's unusual for car hire in the EU not to include CDW and theft at least. Who are you booking with?

The information as to why is all there in black and white. No need to ask.

Ignore this, just do more research to find a car hire supplier with competitive rates that include CDW.

Your post doesn't make any sense at all.

I'm telling them they need a policy that covers the CDW and also any excess(Super CDW).
Not only that, but I posted the three companies that sell policies with CDW and any excess..

You advice is for them to ignore my advice and to research for themselves exactly the same companies that I have already posted.

    Weird.

In answer to your question, if you purchase the insurance indicated by myself, you won't need to purchase their CDW, Super Cover nor any other cover.

There is another supplier that appears to offer CDW, but doesn't call it CDW, so I would be careful and call them to confirm whether their Deluxe policy takes the place of CDW and Super CDW.

My solution is for the package shown by the OP in the first post.

Purchasing a policy with CDW and Super CDW costs perhaps £4.49 per day.

If the OP can find a car supplier that fits their needs and it includes Collision Damage Waiver (Excess Applies), then they need buy only a Super CDW policy (standalone car hire excess insurance) costing £2 per day.

But since the OP asked about a specific instance of a car supplied without CDW, then purchasing a standalone policy with CDW and Super CDW is the correct solution. Best to ignore Trolls who only post to disrupt as opposed to assist.

Are CDW insurers easy to deal with if you have a claim?

Is it worth a marginal extra cost per day, say less than 87p, to avoid the risk and pain of administering a CDW claim with a separate insurer?

I found 3 days car hire from Dublin airport for £74 inc CDW which seems competitive.
