I recently posted on the consumer board, in response to a poster who'd taken goods into a repair shop then found the shop had closed down, no trace.
I did a lot of research and had some information for the poster tha I didn't want to post on an open forum.
I posted for the poster to pm me.
I had my post removed.
Can someone tell me why?

    Email forum team and ask.

Any "pm me" posts do tend to be removed though

    Thanks for your response.
Weird, don't understand why on a consumer forum.
    It's encouraging libellous posting.
It clearly wasnt a personal issue or a threat.
Sometimes , common sense really does need to be used.

Assuming its on the tools post it's still there - albeit minus the 'PM me' bit ?

Forum doesn't know what you are pm'ing

Not in this case but on many areas of the forum can be referrals , affiliate links , illegal content etc

True, Well, I wasn't pming until the poster pmed me back, so I wouldn't have sent anything without his permission.

I had some time sensitive information for the op, who sadly visited the thread again, but by which time my post had been removed so he never saw it.

By the time he sees the thread if he ever does return it may well be too late.

My post was exactly avoiding posting illegal content, or at least content that could be objected to.

    Silly , silly mse..

When I needed help from a particular poster I sent them a P.M asking if I could ask for their help, if they declined or did not reply then that was up to them without any issue.
They replied saying...go ahead happy to help.

In this case you just have to look at Hollidays history - years of giving valuable consumer advice. A little judgment should be exercised when removing posts, not just automatically removing it.

If Holidays had been a Newbie - then that would be different.

Stop talking logic, there is no room for that here.

Yes, but it's often the case that new posters don't notice they have a pm.
