It's commonly eaten in Germany for breakfast with some jam or fruit on it - yummy, just like yoghurt!

Really it says for use in cooking and says nothing about eating raw. I did try it raw with some chocolate powder mixed in and to be truthful it was vile.

I could use it instead of yoghurt in smoothie.

Quark is curd cheese! (That what it means) and it is lovely on its own, I ate it most days when I lived in Germany.

Reckon you must have better stuff then this. It has a very tangy taste.

And actually made me feel sick after eating it.

Members use this a lot in Slimming World. If you crush up a couple of garlic cloves in it and then mix it in really well. Get a chicken breast fillet and slice it sideway to may a pock and then stuck the mixture in. You can then roll it in some breadcrumbs and put it in the oven for about 20 minutes they make gorgeous chicken kievs. I am on yourside with eating as it is - yukkk

Raw??? It doesn't need cooking. I'd imagine chocolate wouldn't go very well with it. Try some of the other suggestions given,

I think the stuff is vile but i last used it whilst making spinach and ricotta lasagne. I subsituted 1/2 ricotta with quark for low fatness.

My SW leader says that quark can be made either sweet or savoury - depending on what you add to it. I've done both (cheesecake and pasta sauce). They tasted ok - but on it's own it's a definate NO NO!

  • Can anyone point me in the direction of a baked cheesecake recipe which uses quark, or indeed suggest anything I can do with two large (250g) tubs of Quark, which I bought because it was Slimming World Free food, and which I have now found out tastes rank on its own! The use by date is 18th November so I will have to make something today. I also have a carton of Buttermilk which was out of date yesterday but I think it will be okay if I use it today, and a carton of sour cream. Any suggestions gratefully received. I may make a cheesecake and then freeze it for Christmas if I can find a recipe which uses what I have. I also have no digestive biscuits so will need to make a cake base.
