I got billed £1100 for 3 months from EDF.
Me and my partner live in a 1 bedroom flat both working full time hardly ever home. How is it even possible?

Sounds like you are not giving regular meter readings to your supplier ... or your supplier is not actually using them.
Stick with one of the big 6 suppliers, supply regular meter readings, and ensure they are being used ... and you won't go far wrong0 -
Good advice there but we need more info especially with regards to long term estimates..A couple of other reasons for a crazy electric bill can be......
.Eco 7 meter ? 2 rate meter , they can get transposed and the supplier eventually catches up and issues a corrected bill..
Dial meter ? these are complicated ( but very accurate ) meters with 6 rotating dials..always getting misread by the customers and meter readers alike0 -
Have you checked that your bill is correctly reflecting your consumption by making sure that its using real meter readings rather than estimates.
If you dont send in readings fairly regularly - ideally once a month - then the supplier will guess how much you are using.
If you don't check the bills and get them corrected then several months or even years of these guesses can mount up into a ginormous bill when they do finally get a real reading.
It's unlikely that you've used all that energy in three months, but if you haven't been sending in readings then you'd better start doing it. How long have you been at your address, did you send in an opening reading if its fairly recent.
There's a lot to check rather than just having a panicNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
So the big six are our saviours. May as well shut down this site.Sounds like you are not giving regular meter readings to your supplier ... or your supplier is not actually using them.

Yes and Yes.
Maybe you should consider making a poll, particularly on the second of your points0 -

Post the readings that you have given them over the last 3 months. The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -
Esther - be honest now - have you ever given EDF a reading ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Indeed, everyone makles mistakes. it's how those mistakes are then resolved.
You won't go far wrong if you stick with one of the Big 6 suppliers.
How you getting on with your mission to get this site closed down?0
